Let's say you own a product (in this case LINK tokens) that you expect to rise in price long term, but you're facing short term financial difficulties. You can either sell the product at it's current price and missing out on later huge returns or you can secure a loan or funding in other ways i.e. other companies investing in your company. If you have a great working product, you can
easily secure a loan at relatively low interest rate, especially now with the whole pandemic shit.
