Idena - The Ultimate Breadcrumb

Hi Newfags, 2012 btc oldfag here. I'm here to share some advice and pass on a lesson.

A bit about my history. I first purchased BTC in single digits in early 2012. I didn't do it for investment purposes and I definitely didn't know it would ever x2 in value or let alone x10,000 in value from when I purchased it. Why did I buy it? It was a necessary means of exchange to purchase on SR 1.0. This was BTC's first ever real use case. But that isn't the point of this post. What I did learn however, was a valuable lesson when I saw the price go from $2 to $100+ - I thought why? It was only then that I discovered the magic underneath bitcoin, its blockchain and ability to remove the middle man and allow you to store wealth outside of a silo's - silo's of banks and government control - protection through decentralisation via a peer to peer network. No one could take this from you as long as you kept your private key, your btc was safe.

Now you have the background, let's move away from money, onto a topic just as big 'identity'. When the internet was built, it was built without human identity layer, instead IP addresses define computers on a network, not people on a network - this is worth repeating, there is no human identity layer on the internet and there is no efficient way to prove you're a human on the internet. The issue with this, is you have multiple identities instead of a single identity. You have an identity with facebook, another identity with google and another with Amazon etc. You have hundreds of passwords and none of your identities are able to be shared between these companies, you need to start over again and again. Have you ever thought how annoying it is when you've spent years building up a trustworthy profile on your chosen website / game / forum only to have to start all over again?

The problem? Identity lives in silo's on the internet. Google isn't going to share your identity with Amazon, and neither will Amazon share your identity with Steam.

What if there was a way in which you could control your identity, but not give up your personal information - it was not anonymous but pseudonymous? One which is decentralised and no one could take it away from you, one which you could build a reputation and trust and not have to start over again. An identity which could perhaps one day, hold all your digital assets from in-game items, amazon reputation, crypto holding etc. (This is a while away but in the years that are coming it could be possible). It's a decentralised identity you OWN and no one can take from you.

What I saw yesterday when I saw idena's latest release is what I was waiting for - a "sign-on with idena" which is now in the top right hand corner of their website. This was the real-world use case I was waiting for to ensure this wasn't just another larp project which would go nowhere. Now I'll be honest in saying I don't own a lot, as I was waiting for a working use case. But now it's there I'll continue to monitor the developments and see how a decentralised identity will change the way we communicate on the internet in the next 5-10 years.

I'm also happy to answer any questions. Please note this is not an invitation or solicitation to invest in idena in way, and I will not answer questions regarding pricing or speculation on token price. I'm excited about the progress of the technology and happy to answer questions about how impactful something like this can be "if" it continues to evolve.

this vs. recaptcha?

"blabla bla listen to me because i was early in btc even tho i probably sold it immediately top kek anyway identity online bla bla the end"

As an Idena holder and early Bitcoin user (although not adopter, I had many BTC come through my wallet but I was still basically a child at the time, 9 years ago, only still hold a small portion of what I had), I think the project is based and an fascinating conceptually, old Zig Forums would’ve creamed themselves at this cyberpunk shit. Interested to see proof behind your claims before anything though. It’s still in testnet and I don’t think we can jump to any conclusions as a number of things could go wrong or this whole thing might just not pan out. The team has delivered consistently and the update today was really neat. Just not sure it’s mature enough yet to lightly throw around the word “revolutionary” in this case.

Not sure why I threw that an in there lel

A recaptcha does not have the ability to build a lifetime of reputation through an online decentralised identity. See that thing in your back pocket? Your wallet? See all the different forms of identity you have inside, a recaptcha just proves you're human - a decentralised digital identity you own and control - allows you to move freely throughout the internet with digital credentials that you can take with you to prove that you're a trustworthy pseudonymous human. You can bring your idena identity (one day) to log into a website and all your info that you choose to disclose (this is important, you'll have a choice) are there for you to use. Been posting on Zig Forums for 10 years and built up a good reputation and now want to move over to another messageboard, log in with your decentralised identity and people can see your reputation (without knowing who you are, they don't care - they just want to know you're trustworthy). Just spent 1,000 hours playing a game on Steam and spent $100 buying in-game items and want to try another non-stream game? Log onto your PlayStation and immediately they see you as user who has spent money and you upgraded access instead of having to start from scratch. These are just real simple examples - I'm sure you see the point here, this is bigger than gaming or logging into websites - this is your new pseudonymous identity on the internet that you may one day be able to bring with you anywhere in the digital world.

Thanks for your msg user. I'm unsure what you mean by claims, my posts don't claim anything - it's a discussion not the usual x1000000 buy my token topic that you find on this board.

OP, if what you’re saying is true then..

Also, I happen to know that several BTC and Eth OG’s have invested and watch this project closely. It is revolutionary tech and real world use cases already exist. Also top tier exchanges within weeks..

Can I already buy it somewhere or do I have to mine it?

This project is based, but I doubt it will ever get a lot of use. You could definitely build a website using idena as a form of login, and that could host adds payed with dna

Zig Forums already know that this will go nowhere. Months of shilling, and the price is down 40%, while volume can't even break $3,000. Every thread is a bunch of bagholders patting themselves on the back, yet can't even sell quickly enough, since there is no volume. qTrade got 2 million tokens for the listing, and they didn't have to go through invite begging, validations, flips, VPS mining, praying that their invitees will actually show up for validations, and shilling for free on a forum, that already knows that this project will die this year.

UNLIMITED SUPPLY!!! :^)

Oy vey.

If you think the price of a token relates to the success of a technology in the near term I have some news for you user. Get rid of this behaviour if you want to make it. Price follows fundamentals over long periods of time, sign on with Idena will take years for other websites to implement the feature, but today before anyone expected it was implemented on its own and it is working. What is working? A decentralised identity which allows users to prove they are human without telling the website while keeping their privacy. The reason volume can't break 3000 is because it's just a few people on biz trading a coin that's less than 6 months old man with no market maker providing liquidity. Where were you in 2010 when there was 0 exchanges and no liquidity when our man bought his 10k BTC pizza? This has never been done before, a decentralised sign on. Don't you see? Your thinking is warped, you're concentrating on price where I'm concentrating on technology. Read my lesson in the first message, if you knew the tech behind bitcoin in 2011-2012 when it had its first big use case in SR 1.0 would you care if it had a few thousands of liquidity and call it a shitcoin worth a few bucks? Yes you would, heed my advice and look beyond the price and see we have a new way of validating humans on the blockchain to a 90%+ accuracy rate. Will it succeed and continue to grow into more websites and more nodes - I don't know, but so far so good.

Kek, did you bother checking the volume? This is what grassroots looks like. No ICO, building from the ground up. There will be more liquidity very soon

sigh....why do I even bother posting here. I said will take years for real adoption and price to potentially follow and you show squiggles on a line over a 4 day period. If this was 2010 and you bought BTC at .70c you'd sell at .35c and be done with it. The state of biz. Can't see revolutionary tech if it stared them in the face and some kind user spent an hour trying to explain it here in multiple posts. Just go to the casino man, youll you more fun there over a 4 day period

I hope it turns out true user, I really do. But odds are it won't when speaking pure maths most start ups fail, however it only takes 1 for it to be life changing :)

Just you faggots wait until this shit gets replaced with "log in with Idena".

Every project is "totally solving the whatever whatever problem". It's all been said before, and guess what, these projects are nowhere to be found. Sure, it's a fun little hobby for a bunch of anonymous devs, but if you have no connections, no revenue, no investors, and a bunch of brain dead shilld polluting the airwaves, there is only one way to go - into history's garbage receptacle.

You can't use buzzwords such as "proof of person", if a single person can run multiple nodes. You can't call this project "decentralized", if anonymous devs hold 70% of the supply. You can't call this project fair, if your own shills only invite white people.

Yeah, good luck. There are over 5 thousand projects out there. Only a handful are actually legit and will make it. If you even for a second think that IDENA is on that list, you are lying to yourself.

What's the purpose of the token?

Good post user and good points. Let's address some:

No connections - as they choose to remain anonymous this is impossible to tell.

No Revenue - I work in start ups, the path to revenue comes after an idea, establishing a team, having a working product, having users on that product, then revenue. They have already done all of this in record time, revenue will come later, it's still early, very early.

No investors - Incorrect, read the papers on the site, there have been investors and there will be a second round. How else did they have 6 full time Devs working on it?

Proof of Person and single node - Do you have a better solution to the flip problem? If so the team are open to hear it (read their last ama) - currently it's 90%+ accuracy and that will evolve over time as the Consensys evolves. It is better than any solution ever created, please post a better one considering the age of the project.

Yes I agree the team holds a higher than usual amount of tokens - I'm not a fan of this. The invitation system will be reworked, as it currently stands it's too much of a bottleneck for network growth, but at this stage it can't grow too fast otherwise it will crash under its own weight as the Devs work on sharing, they have made it clear that past 80k nodes it will be a problem. Ok the note of being white - if you join the discord you'll see many different languages each with their own sub category. This isn't a racist project - biz unfortunately makes it that way, it's sad and I don't condone it personally.

>You can't call this project fair, if your own shills only invite white people
i'll take 2 invites, please and thank you my fez wearing friends

>No connections - as they choose to remain anonymous this is impossible to tell.
So lack of connections is the only logical conclusion at this time, until proven otherwise.

>No Revenue - still early, very early
How will they support their growth, if it could be years before they see revenue, although it is infinitely more likely that the project will fail long before then, statistically speaking.

>No investors - Incorrect, read the papers on the site, there have been investors and there will be a second round. How else did they have 6 full time Devs working on it?
Who are the investors? Let's hear some names.

>Proof of Person and single node - Do you have a better solution to the flip problem?
I personally feel that the usefulness of this entire project is erroneously overstated.

>This isn't a racist project - biz unfortunately makes it that way, it's sad and I don't condone it personally.
Why shill it on Zig Forums every day then? Just keep working on it, and come back, when this is actually something worth talking about.

correction 8k not 80k and sharding is in the works already afaik.

How hard is it to figure out all projects must start somewhere? Some start with full-on marketing and VCs/angel investors, others are grassroots. Just because initial investment has been fairly low doesn't mean this doesn't stand a chance, in fact it stands a better chance than half of the chink coins shilled here. I do think that usecase will come in time, I just fear that this is simply solving problems that don't exist yet too early, eg for something that will be mainstream years from now but will have taken a different route to achieve that. It's interesting to discuss in a philosophical sense either way, and this project is awesome for that reason alone. But it might go the way of Orchid OXT, which is also great working tech and a revolutionary concept (dVPNs) but the crypto market hasn't been mature enough to see that.

>Just keep working on it, and come back, when this is actually something worth talking about.

This is a plebbit tier mindset and you’re never gonna make it.
Go buy some amazon stonks newfag

Node count keeps exploding. If it keeps going on this trajectory more and more people will notice. There alot of interesting things that can potentially be done not only on the platform natively, but bridging it with Ethereum as well.

this is what I’m psyched for, we’re already at more nodes than other well-respected coins. think it’s 20% each epoch. this project is still in its babby stage, it’s barely walking, fuding a low market cap like this is weak. even if 10% of identities is 2 nodes (a high number imo, we’ll call it that) that’s still only 230 out of 2300 nodes that are only semi-unique while the rest are unique proof of identity, which is exactly what its intention is.

>inb4 jannies get paid in DNA

also sign in makes me hard as diamonds, these devs are glued to their fucking screens. matter of time until more features are added and then usecase comes about. trust in the process, have full confidence in the team.

>writing essays to get retards to buy into a pajeet project that got BTFO by a literal 13 year old a week ago
I can’t fault you, Zig Forums is insanely stupid and easy to take advantage of
