I read that say staking a 20k stack for 12 months gets you around 24k at the end. So, wouldn't it be better to keep it unstaked and make extra LIT by tapping into price fluctuations?

Trying to time price fluctuations works until it doesn’t. Way more risky. Staking is comfy enough and assures confirmed gains, plus you don’t get the added stress of trying to play the market which is a fool’s game for most people

call me retarded if im completely wrong but isnt staking done in order to help stabilise the price, because certain amounts of the total supply are tied up in stakes there is less fear of a massive dump, also you should stake it during what they call the "genesis" phase (next 2 years) in the whitepaper cause they offer additional rewards

Fully agreed. It's stressful. But it'll be weird sitting out on massive price fluctuations during staking. Oh well, if the coin's legit as it seems then price increment would be relatively stable I guess.

It's done to validate transactions, but locking up tokens to stabilise the price is a bonus.

For now I guess the max. staking time is 12 months. And yeah, you're right in that if enough people are staked in, price fluctuations won't be worth it to play around with.

yeah it is but i think i'll compound and restake again if its still looking good, at least until the genesis stage ends

they talk about a minimum 20% interest on all stakes in the first year as well unless im misunderstanding the white paper
