And this part is just spitballing, but when it comes to customer service type shit, men often prefer interacting with them because sexual impulses and dopamine, and women rarely feel physically threatened by other women. Honestly, if the cute barista flirts with you, you're going to get a nice dopamine boost and be all the more likely to come back for more. Same thing if she doesn't, but she shows a little cleave or reminds you of that girl you used to jack off to.
No, Unions are based on brotherhood and standing your ground. Unions don't want changes that make them feel better, but rather changes that actually improve things.

Women are objectively more likely to be of value in certain roles vs. men. Such roles include sales (obviously), marketing, HR, school teaching, and some support/medical positions.
Evolution & biology help them in those areas.
Minorities are useful when it comes to selling to other minorities, especially towards other non-white markets.
Also, hiring some minorities helps create the illusion that any minority person can be like their successful idol.
Same reason some minority athletes are promoted in the media so much.
