Is the West still worth living in?

Hi user, I live in Eastern European shithole. So far, I was able to accumulate near 100k$ savings in cash and 0.5 BTC.
Like everyone here, I've always dreamed about moving to EU or Canda, never thought about this seriously, though.
However, recently I've received a few offers from Spanish companies, was excited at first, then learned about spanish progressive income tax, which turns already humble salary of 35-40k EUR into a laughable sum. In my country I have 45k$ - 5% tax, and here it's far from being over the top in my field. Then, I thought that maybe I can utilize low interest rates on loans, and, being an officially registered in EU employee, buy an apartment in Spain and resign after repaying the loan. I lost any aspiration when learned about property involved taxes and ridiculous laws protecting tenants. Finally, when I checked the real estate market, I was shocked by the poor quality apartments, even commie blocks in Kiev, which cost 3-4 times less, look more reliable and cleaner than slums on Barcelona streets, desu.

Moreover, looking at youtube videos from Spain, there are lots of bars on the windows all over the city and it looks like the government turns a blind eye on small crimes. Also, there are lots of signs of poorness everywhere, we have all these only on outskirts of the city, where gopnics live, however, in Spain even central streets are all stained with graffiti and thuggish narco looking guys walking nearby. Not even saying about activists, feminists, gays prospering there.

So, contrary to widespread belief in my country about the West being this magical blessed place, I do not see what's the bargain here. Sure, Canada / Germany / Scandinavian countries may offer higher salaries, however, the cost of living is higher, taxes are even more ridiculous and push for dishonest people and their values (feminists) is stronger. I simply do not see how living there could improve my life.

Maybe I'm missing out on something thinking like this?

if you move to the west avoid big cities imo
but i would move as far away from russia as i can if i were you well and chernobil also

No it isn't. Well you could come but it is increasingly becoming a hostile environment. If you can avoid the pitfalls and get your good times might be ok, but its all looking a bit loose at the seams these days. I am from the UK.

also check out slovenia! it's the best compromise between east and west pretty european but still not too expensive.
it's just all those hills gave me claustrophoby after 3 days... but i bet you can get used to not seeing the skyline ever.

Your assessment is 100% accurate.

Somehow Canada psyop'd the world into thinking its a great place, im sure its the same for Scandinavia. Literally everyone I know here with money is leaving/or getting a second citizenship. Canada peaked in the 90s and is skyrocketing downwards economically, culturally and spiritually. A $100k salary gets you basically nothing, and the places it can buy you a house and good life have a lower standard of living than Eastern Europe. Don't listen to the rural Canadian fag cope. Its NOT like rural USA

t. Canadian

Try Croatia if you're really into the mediterranean. I've heard it's the most gorgeous place in Europe, and still pretty cheap.

dude goign west is for people living in the 2000.
If i was not in switzerland i would move to slovenia asap

Fuck off hohol, stay in your shithole

>So, contrary to widespread belief in my country about the West being this magical blessed place
Romanian living in italy here, i also lived in Germany. I can assure you that the west is an absolute shithole beyond your imagination. I was forced to move due to my parents moving and i hate the for it.
I'm also way poorer than you.

i'd think twice about canada, frankly. but it still is very nice. i just see it getting worse as the government becomes more.. insistent.

Just live in thailand or some island haha. Canada doesn't like guns so I wouldn't long them anytime soon.

never been to croatia when i was thinking about going and they told me i have to have a bodybag in the car for every passenger i was like wtf is wrong with you people?

I live in Canada, other than their pasable health care system, I'm looking into moving to eastern europe because of the taxes. Most countries are around the same, only east europe has lower taxes. I'm thinking Czechia at 22%

Ukraine has a low tax rate of 18% here but I'm looking for 420 friendly countries.

Meditate. Learn to be content in the pits of hell.

Amerifag looking to live in Italy/Mediterranean countries. Are the taxes but free healthcare, university, work-vacation schedule, worth it in the EU?
Keep in mind I live in San Francisco. THanks

You are over evaluating the west cause you never been there Ivan

desu 45k is probably about 42k after tax, which would be still a quite sizable amount in central Europe, and you can go even further with that in Ukraine.

i get 40k€ and after tax its 22,4k€, yet it includes healthcare, unemployment insurance, accident insurance and (((pension))).

The cost of living is probably 2x to 3x in Austria. Also if you don't have enough securities, you also won't get a cheap loan, and you can expect to pay about 3-5% in an already inflated market.

If you got a good credit you could expect 0.5%

>moving to EU
sorry user, we're absolutely full.

how do croats even live?

I've talked to people who have been cashiers and they earned about 500€, rent is like 200€ and food is only 20-30% cheaper than in Austria/Germany.

If you work as an ordinary employee, your employer is obliged to pay on your behalf a 18% income tax.

However, if you register as private enterpreneur, and work as a contractor, like almost everyone working for Western companies does here, you'll do your own taxes and pay only 5% income tax by yorself.
(other rules are applied if your income is higher than ~260k$/year)

I've been to Western Europe many times actually. And the difference with my Eastern European shithole is so fucking obvious.
I do realize that there are lots of problems though

What about Slovenia or Croatia. I thought they were supposed to be based

how did you found it better?
name at least one thing

Tbh, quite an interesting suggestion, but I have rather sparse info on both of them.

I've considered a Poland some time ago, however, they seem to dislike us pretty much. Which is a shame, as I really like the country

what is it that you don't like about your country? why can't you stay there?
From what i see only poor people move from the east to the west and they never "make it".

The average salary in my country is 500$. And the cost of living is not that different from the EU countries
It's literally a dictatorship with the same guy in power for the last 25 years
It's a police state with stupidly strict laws. For example, if they find a gram of weed in your pocket, you can end up in prison for the next 5 -10 years
There is a conscription, which is literally slavery
The climate is complete shit

You don't live in Ukraine.

If you actually lived in Ukraine, you would know that Ukraine is a shit-hole, and even a move to Germany would be such a blatantly obvious step-up that you wouldn't have made this thread.

Instead, you made a thread on Zig Forums to complain about irrelevant social factors, because maybe Zig Forums is having a slow day.

Ukraine, and Eastern Europe as a whole, has graffiti (largely swastikas) because they lack the public funds to deal with it. Western Europe has graffiti because they embrace art, and don't engage in barbaric social practices like clubbing somebody to death for applying dye in their hair.

If you think your current country is a shithole, you have nothing to lose. So why not just take the job and see how you like it? Move around and experience different shit so you can see what you like. Random shit cunts on this mongolian asshole bleaching forum are gonna give you some Zig Forums tier takes usually, so take them with a huge bag of salt. If you earn 40k now, you'll earn quite a bit more in Spain, so overall your take home pay will be roughly the same, maybe slightly higher.

If you think of investing in property in Western Europe with 100k, you can forget about it.

for skilled labor Switzerland, Washington State and Texas are probably the way to go, high wages and a fair tax system, even if you dont stay there forever, you could still load up some money and leave later.

>And the cost of living is not that different from the EU countries
The price of housing is way lower, the price of gas, electricity and food are also way lower.
Or am i wrong?
You can buy an apartment at around $20k, here in the west it's rare to find anything below 100k.
The unemployement rate is very high especially among the young.
>It's literally a dictatorship with the same guy in power for the last 25 years
Based
>if they find a gram of weed in your pocket
You are a degenerate for using any substance, do you also like dicks? No wonder you think Europe is "cool"
>There is a conscription
It's actually a good way to transform pussies into proper guys.

>Western Europe has graffiti because they embrace art
Yes we have nigs putting graffiti and shitting on the streets instead who will stab you if they have the chance.

What about Alberta? Seems like a boom province with combination of high paying jobs, low COL, and affordable housing from what I hear. Is this true?

Just move to Czechia like every other Ukrainian, nicer than Poland and better weather/scenery with less retarded people

What booms must also crash. Oil was negative recently and that's the entire provinces economy, that place is cursed along with the rest of economy

It's always on the verge of dissolution, which implies that you can lose any asset acquired here anytime.
For example, upon receiving a salary people immediately convert and cash out almost whole sum into USD to sell later when needed, as a national currency could just hyperinflate overnight leaving you with nothing.
Same goes for every investment, take real estate for example. A common case is that people invest in a new project by a developing company, it often has connections with the government and easily acquires all documents for the building (not necessarily being illegal, or breaking the construction norms). Then the government is changed/overthrown/reelected, and developing company has no more "connections", and it is suddenly is destroyed by the lawsuits.

I would like to add thar the currency of Norway has been taking a beating since 2016 and even worse during these times. Our "fed" has intervened to stop it from further plunging but who knows if the can keep it up. Anyone considering moving here would be wise to see how things play out before taking the leap.

Is it sustainable to buy apartments and rent them out in Kiev?
