To the user who said that UC Berkeley is as white as California high school seniors—the undergrad population at Berkeley isn't made up solely of CA high school students. It also includes transfer students, out-of-state students and international students
The official policy of the UC is that they don't engage in affirmative action (because of court orders), but by looking at the numbers you can tell they do. UCLA, one of the most applied to schools in the country, still has a large portion of black and Latinos students. If it was a pure meritocracy, it would be just Asians, Whites, and Jews. De facto affirmative action goes on behind the scenes. A law professor at UCLA recently sued the UC to gain access to admissions data that (he suspects) would show that Asians are actively being discriminated against in admissions. It's funny, because no one gives a fuck about whites being discriminated against, but if you flip the script slightly (to Asians, for example) suddenly people think you have a cogent point and you go from being viewed as a racist to being a person perceived as having a logical argument.
