it definitely has some purposes but it's not being put to good use yet. The main benifit of crypto is not relying on financial institutions to handle your transactions, it's like cash for the internet, you can pay someone directly. So basically any online transaction would be better served by crypto. The volatility is a problem though, nobody is willing to adopt a currency that could lose half it's value overnight

Youre getting a ton of retard tier answers. To answer your question OP, the TX is pending because you did not pay enough gas. There should be an option that says 'Speed Up This Transaction"... click that and increase the TX gas limit. If a really long period of time has passed, you should get an option to "Cancel", which will essentially send a 0.00 ETH transfer to yourself using the same nonce as your stuck TX, just be sure to set a reasonable gas limit. Metamask literally tells you the estimated processing time based on your gas limit.

gas is the tx fee in ETH at least you have control over how fast your tx you want it to be and how much you are willing to pay for the fee unlike other cryptos where you pay a volatile fee for a 5-10min or more tx that could be way over a few cents..
