I could be wrong but if I had to guess as to what is doing, it would be this:

This is big brain play because if he gets lucky on 0xMR in short term, he can cash out and start another wealth cycle with something like Bitcoin, Gold, LINK, or stonks.
If "XRP teh standard" droolers continue to speculate, he will see gains mid-long term as well.
The likelihood that this user is poor and trying to "make it" with that portfolio is almost zero. If that IS the case, then it's a tardfolio. But probably not.
