These corporations are private. The government doesn't own or run them. Private individuals are the ones benefiting off of this. What redistribution of wealth? The wealthy are getting wealthier, how is this any different than the capitalist status quo?

On a separate note kinda but. Living on credit only works when the times are good. Debts can eat you alive. Anxiety and depression is a real thing. I think one of the reasons socialism fails is because Ameriflaps keep sabotaging it. You should look up "Operation Condor". It's one of the many ways the US undermined communist/socialist states. So whenever people go "LMAO COMMUNISM STARVING" they never really mention how most of the world is capitalist and people in power have every interest to stay in power and socialism is a direct threat to them, so naturally they try to destroy that threat.
About your question, I think that even truly socialist states would struggle during a pandemic, because production gets squeezed just as hard. But, I don't think people would suffer as much as under capitalism. As you said, there would be no credit nor would there be bills. The reason people are suffering right now is because they don't have access to credit and have no real income aside unemployment benefits which are just enough to cover the bare necessities.
