It's not about when it's ready, it's when it's needed. Implementation with oracle is q3/4 and so staking will be on target deployed q1 2021.

In Fact, Cardano is such an improvement over Ethereum's design that Chainlink will probably swap to Cardano for better smart contracts.
ETH Cant Scale, 2.0 is at least a year away, and It is not an easy road. The hype may very well die on ETH, but not Chainlink.
Ethereum's main use case is a settlement layer for the Chainlink Network. Cardano will use wrapped link to initiate oracle requests on the chainlink network.
