/XMR/ Monero General

How's my Monero senpai doing today? Feeling comfy?

Some cool news: appears that some hackers have dirt on a bunch of celebrities and Trump. They are asking for a ransom of $42 million in Monero. Bullish: cointelegraph.com/news/ransomware-gang-demands-42m-or-it-releases-trumps-dirty-laundry

We also have had another strong weak in daily transactions. Long term growth in Monero usage is still provably happening.

I wish I was rich, I would throw a good amount into Monero as a long term hold.

Its getting straight up silly at this point
Just hope my hands are strong enough to hold half my stack through 2024

What's silly inflation bro?
You can always just DCA a little each month. But we are probably going to see a marketwide dump and consolidation anyways so you can probably get in at a lower price.

I ain't buying your drug- and childporn-coin

Btc has had multiple halvings with a bull after each
Xmr has really one mega halving happening between now and mid 2022
Imagine what happens when people start seeing the price spike up and then put two and two together

Pedos and drug users drive cars

Why are you driving a car

I don't want your drug car

Shouldnt leak this but fuck it
Anyone know how junket operators between macau and mainland china work?
Anyone know why they work that way?
Wouldnt it be amazing if there was a completely chain opaque project that contained that entire value prop?

If only the ip of accessing that project could be obfuscated....

oh of course user. I'm not sure what I am going to do. I have a good paying job so I may just hold until 2030 desu.
drugs and cp are purchased with dollars and bitcoins, but those things aren't considered "drug coins" or "pedo coins". All you are doing is projecting against Monero's usecase because you subconsciously understand that Monero is a powerful tool. Bitcoin went through the same wave of criticism in the early 2010s.
I think IP obfuscation is long term something Monero will eventually have built into it's gui wallet. It's not really the end of the world though because even if you know the IP address of somebody using Monero, you can't prove what transactions they made.

Ip obfuscation isnt the end of the world for low and intermediate value use cases but for the truly high value stuff, which means risking peoples lives and livelihoods, its a must

Also know that you can ip obfuscate now via other means, but it should be default just like ring sigs

How long do I have Monero bros? I am an ancap at heart but I would be a fool to return to the black market after realizing how lucrative the grey one is. I currently hold Nano but I want to be a part of the Monero gang too. Do I have enough time to stack more sats before buying in?

i have 100, want 1000

yeah. if you are operating in high value or if you are a target you should host your own node. But if you are at that level, you are definitely making sure you are obfuscating your IP. It is annoying that Monero is still so complicated to normies and especially to boomers (who of course, have money to spend). The next generation of old people will at least be somewhat computer literate.
Sure, you can just DCA and you'll be mostly fine. Monero's BTC ratio is insanely undervalued. Pic related shows the actual growth in the usage of Monero during the bear market.

I'll stick with ESH thanks.

imagine still falling for the pajeet scam of the week.

McCaffe is white.

How long do I have til Monero bro?

And he's known for shilling shitcoins for pump and dumps. Pajeets dick ride him because they have no understanding of the greater economics at play. It's just another pump and dump. The actual tech behind ghost is literally a fork of zcash. It's optional privacy on a transparent ledger. Fucking retarded to think this will go anywhere as there are already a dozen other privacy shitcoins that do this. The smart money is going into Monero because it actually works and is actually being used.
Idk man it's impossible to predict the crypto market. We could see a massive dump again. A 0.0067 BTC ratio is, in my opinion, extremely undervalued, so I'd recommend DCAing over the next few months as the best way of protecting your investment and also getting in on cheap Monero.

Morning lads

I was reading about Monero making changes to improve long term scalability. Are there any official plans in the community? I was reading about a project called Spectre I think. My main concern is long term use and fees not reaching too high. From what I have read, the current XMR model is not fine tuned for scaling and it will have to be massively adjusted.

Also, I have some fears about a bug that was posted that allowed for unlimited mining or something like that? Seems like XMR could be facing a long term bear market if there were a shitload of fakes forged.

scalability is an issue facing all of crypto, but this will improve over time as tech improves and research improves, etc. Monero has a dynamic block size, which is pretty cool, meaning that the blocks will just adapt in size depending on how big each one is. This is more logical than capping off each block, and provides leeway in case blocks increase in size. Other things off the top of my head to increase scalability was implementing bulletproofs two years ago (and last month there was a bulletproof update found that makes transactions 25% faster), introducing pruning, and the future ring sig update which will make txs smaller and increase privacy further.
One thing also to consider is Monero regularly does hard forks because the comminity isn't full of moonboy spergs, so having tech upgrades is realistic and frankly considered pretty standard.
>a bug that was posted that allowed for unlimited mining or something like that?
that was an old cryptonote bug, but it never effected monero. It is possible that a bug may exist in the future, but to date Monero has been pretty safe. Overall supply is enforced by key images and pedersen commitments.

Thanks, XMR is definitely one my watch list.

I use a crypto ATM without KYC to stack Monero for the case I get unbanked.

Kek

Do people believe this or no?

I cashed out for ESHies and Ghost drop

Believe what? Monero has extremely low inflation and it is going to put significant upward pressure on the price.
stinky pajeet

Bump

Suterusu has a lower (the lowest for privacy coins) inflation rate and supports smart contracts unlike monero. I like XMR but it seems to generally be fairly stable in tracking btc, i'm unsure why it'd moon just for the inflation rate reason.

The fact that bitcoin block rewards will be higher than XMR as well as that there will be more BTC than XMR should be very bullish for Monero.
