Yeah only if you ignore the fact that America has the best and most expansive piece of arable land on the planet with the lowest transport costs to consumers on the planet with perfect borders that protects her from all threats with the youngest population in the developed world with the strongest military on the world who has forces on every artery of world trade and also has the ability to print the world's reserve currency, the only currency any country is willing to use as a trade intermediary.
Do you people really think America is going the way of Brazil? Who's transport costs to simply get food grown in the countries interior to consumers is 12x that of the United States? Whose Navy is so overwhelmingly powerful that at the current rate of naval build up world wide assuming america did nothing it would take until 2240 until the rest of the world combined could challenge the US fleet in a blue water battle?
It wouldn't be impossible for the USD to simply be retethered to gold is confidence were a issue. The USD was taken off the gold standard in the first place due to the fact that at the time the cold war was in full swing and America had to subsidize the entire free world.
Today it is different, America doesn't need to subsidize the rest of the world anymore, only countries that pay for the privilege will enjoy access to US markets and US military overwatch.

I dont think the argument is sudden collapse. It took the western roman empire about 200ish years to collapse after hitting its zenith. The american empire has clearly hit, and past, its zenith. No more lands to conquer, a political elite that considers its own country and native white population to be evil, demographic collapse of the high IQ population and replacement with 3rd world peasantry, decreasing share of global production, increasing reliance on foreign inmports and financing, increasing use of currency debasement, decreasing individual liberties, increasing size of government.
