>be me
>want to sell some dai for eth
>see uniswap relentlessly shilled here
>decide to try it out
>"you need to unlock your token to use it, sir"
>uhhh ok
>"that'll be 50 cents to use your own money, sir"
>weird but ok, click confirm
>unlock transaction has been stuck for half an hour
>eth has gone up in price since then
So this is the power of defi... sugoi.
Uniswap moar like unicrap am i rite
No, you're wrong and a faggot.
contd.
>token finally unlocked
>gas fee is $1.58
>selling less than 200 dai is more expensive and slower than using a regular exchange
How the fuck can I be wrong about something that's happening to me right now?
Uniswap isn't for day trading. If the price action is volatile then up the gas fee for the quickest transaction possible (the most I've ever had to wait was maybe a minute). If you can't afford a 50 cent fee then you have bigger problems.
Here's the thing
if you can find a token on an exchange, its probably better to buy it there. I exclusively trade major alts on exchanges.
For literally everything else uniswap is the best. You cannot beat how easy it is to just open up your wallet, press swap, and have the coins (assuming you used max gas which isn't uniswaps fault...eth is congested AF rn).
If you have a problem using CEXs then stop complaining because this is as good as it's gonna get. Its as frictionless as it gets.
thats not even the main problem. Im trying to dump 16k ubt and its costing me 400$ to do the transaction. thats not even accounting when the network gets clogged
dump it in smaller amounts, have you checked slippage? probably better to do lots of small 1 or 2k transactions. Check liq pool and whatnot. V1 or V2 makes a huge difference.
Fuck off Ranjeesh
Try 1inch.exchange next time. They use gastoken which cuts down the gas cost by like 40% and will probably find you better deals than just using Uniswap.
I'm not day trading. I don't want to pay more than I should either. Let's see:
>50 cents to unlock the token
>$1.58 for gass fee
>price slippage of 0.01%
>0.0448651 dai for liquidity provider
>30 minutes to carry out the operation, price main go up or down, if you it goes up that'll be the equivalent of fees
How is this acceptable? How is this better than using a regular exchange and withdrawing your coins when you are done? And this is DAI to ETH, mainstream tokens. I just checked with CEL to DAI and the fees are insane.
this is also a great idea
i'm not shilling your shitcoins amalesh. Uniswap is a great way to pick up bags of stuff you want that isn't on burger friendly exchanges yet.
That's what I've been using, they list uniswap gas price as lower than theirs for some reason and that's why I tried it after the Zig Forums shilling.
There is also swap.totle.com which used to work great and then one day started passing out insane gas prices like $10 for some small transaction.
Use 1inch.exchange it's the altavista of swappy exchanges
i had to break it up in three and still ended up paying the same amount
its not that much better when using large amounts. iirc it cost me more
Why all the sudden Uniswap pajeets? The shitty exchange doesn't even show you what price you are buying at. If you are a liquidity provider you lose all your money from people arbitraging on exchanges and all you get for it is a shitty Uniswap token. Uniswap is one of the fastest ways to lose all of your money (aside from trading with leverage).
they think its the new idex. you can get shitcoins faster on uniswap to then on idex
>The shitty exchange doesn't even show you what price you are buying at
Are you retarded? It very clearly shows the price you are attempting to buy at, and the minimum amount of tokens you will receive.
No, there is slippage so you do not know the average buy price.
I think he means the standard slippage of 0.3% makes it uncertain.
Then use FD or something
>inb4 no liquidity
Why do all these DEXs charge you to "unlock" your tokens btw? Does anyone know?
FD? havent heard of that one yet. I was going to give dydx a shot and just trade eth. I honestly like CEX for the user exp. After fucking with defi in general it feels like a fucking joke when trying to move anything more then 500$
>spend $4k to buy some shit token
>change my mind, want to sell it back
>would only get $500-$1000 back in return
I think noobs would be better off with an easy to use/non-KYC CEX like flame.exchange
>noobs
Oh you get to waive slippage, token unlock fee and gas prices? Please tell us more.
You can't buy a coin if nobody is selling it
Forkdelta, a fork of etherdelta. Oldest player in the game. If you want a purely dapp exchange then try bamboorelay. It runs on 0x protocol. These swap exchanges feel scammy anyway
Is it our fault that you lowballed the gas amount. Fuck off
>this is the power of defi
>he bought dxdao
bingo
and you ruin the jobs of many rajesh with this fud.
oh yeah i remember eth delta. i never used it because like you said felt scammy.
I like paraswap and 1inch myself. as a whale it makes it easy to soak up liquidity on moon shoots before pajeets figure out how to use Uniswap.
Nice cope but I used the price and amount suggested by uniswap.
this is ethereum's fault, not uniswap. once ETH 2.0 introduces sharding, this will all happen instantaneously and cheap
gas isn't suggested by uniswap newb. you need to look at the ETH network to see how congested it is and change your transaction in metamask. google ETH gas station
I dumped my nulink airdrop there and it worked fine.
have you ever used an exchange? uniswawp has been less expensive for me every single time
Etherdelta wasn't scam. It was the best exchange. Now both that and Forkdelta is dead (FD has little to no volume). Currently bamboorelay is the best exchange
So the way to use DEX is not to use the suggested amounts by the website or your wallet but go to ethgasstation.info and calculate your expected cost and input the values yourself? lol so this is the power of dex... sugoi.
Meanwhile I sent the DAI to coinbase for less than 50 cents in less than 5 minutes, traded for 0.1% fee and withdrew it for free in less time that it took uniswap to "unlock" my token.
You are wrong. You are not counting the combination of slippage, token unlock fees and gas fees.
why hasn't FD cleaned up their shitty UI?
