i was semi-retired for 5 years straight, enough money to pay all the bills, have a condo paid off. It got really fucking boring. I know that's partly my fault, not finding enough interesting things to do, but really it just became boring not having business/work to focus on each day. I read literally hundreds of books, watched hundreds of movies, went out hundreds of times with friends, travelled a bit (few times a year anyway) to see a few of the places I really wanted to see. Eventually though I'd just end up sitting around, feeling slightly depressed, apathetic, listless, wondering why life was so pointless.
Now I've been back to wagecucking for the last ~2 years and am honestly much happier. My job's great, I enjoy it, have a lot of freedom with no one looking over my shoulder, and get a real sense of contribution and accomplishment each day.
