He ignored all my emails about the deposit and has the audacity to ask me to show someone around the apartment while I'm on the lease
By the way, "he" refers to the old landlord, the one I signed the lease with originally, and is the father of the current landlord. The old landlord was such a nice guy I can't believe this douche of a landlord is his son

Honestly? I would demand your deposit a few days before your departure or tell him it will cost him 5x as much. Cement in the sinks/toilet is just the beginning. Tear out the cabinets, put holes in the tub, holes in the wall, rip up the carpet and subfloor. If your not the vindictive type then he has you by the balls, but if your never coming back to the states then you can't be sued by your landlord
