The $92,000,000 pizzas

In a day like today, 10 years Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 bitcoin for two Papa John's pizzas.

You must be new...

Today is the 10th year anniversary.

Does anyone know the name of the person who bought/ordered the pizzas for him?

The pizzeria wouldn't accept bitcoin, but the guy who paid the 10$ or how much he paid did get 10000 bitcoins.

user....

based

>The bitcoins were quoted at $41 at the time of the offer.
so bercos bought 10k btc for 4.1 cents each. a ROI of over 20,000,000% in 10 years.

nvm i was wrong, it's 0.41 cents / bitcoin, and a ROI over 200,000,000% kek

i'm guessing if he had 10k btc to pay for pizza in 2010 he is probably rich as fuck today. it's not like that was his only 10k btc and he used it for pizza.

>I am the person who bought the 10000btc pizza 8 years ago. I am poor now. Feel free to donate any amount of btc:
>BTC: >1NosDYmVU4VHv5Yd9CuNsStjptttM1Y6HW
lol

poor dude lost 10k to promote bitcoin but they only give him back 0.2. bitcoiners ahve no heart

on the other hand, imagine taking a twitter handle like that and making $1,800 off it, pretty Zig Forums move

You think the company actually kept those private keys though? I imagine it was more of a publicity stunt. Keys probably went into the trash.

and its way better than the flavorless shit over in Europe

Upon further review that twitter might be fake.
His actual address is: 1XPTgDRhN8RFnzniWCddobD9iKZatrvH4

Reading his other posts at: bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=143;sa=showPosts;start=0 it seems like he kept the private keys for the wallet and uses bitcoin as often as he can.

He is not rich tho.

The guy that sold the pizzas sold the bitcoin for $400 a 10x so you can't blame him for it too much.

BTC sent your way you Bitcoin legend Grin

>Wow thanks, I do still have access to it. You should never delete a wallet, even if you've spent what was 'in' it.
>I appreciate the donations, but nobody owes me anything.. I generated my share and I spent it, it was just at a time when the value was lower, but so was the generation difficulty, and the block reward was 50.

>Laszl

Back in 2011 I had 300 bitcoin and sold them for $100 each and thought I was made...paid for my final 2 years of college so I can't complain

how'd you do that 2011 didn't touch $100

it's obviously fake kek laszlo must have tens of thosuands left. he was asking in the thread if 10k is too low, indicated to pay more if someone wanted to haggle

First domino heh

>tfw mined thousands of btc back in 2009 and I just gave up on them because it was making my computer slow and I lost my key.

It’s like being in a room full of teenage girls and you leave because they are annoying to talk to, but as soon as you leave, they lock the door and start eating each other’s pussies.

According to an interview he spent every bitcoin that he had and he is happy about it. He doesn't use it as an investment.

>as soon as you leave, they lock the door and start eating each other’s pussies.
so, the only reason bitcoin mooned is that you quit and destroyed your keys? thank you lol

yeah. so did finney.
most people with bitcoins supposedly in the tens of thousands somehow are either anonymous or got rid of it early.

it really shows character if you think about it, how all these people with tens of millions out of their pocket keep their chill about it and are living in perfect zen with their loss.

Wrong.

Yeah. If I had millions worth of crypto I'd pretend that I lost them in a boating accident too. But in the case of Lazo he volunteered his story on the forum before it was known. If he wanted to lay low he wouldn't have spoken about his holdings at all.

he didn't mind the spotlight, but he didn't want to be targeted for his remaining 50k btc.

bitcoin didn't have a price at the time. this literally defined the price of BTC. 10k BTC = $40 worth of pizza. people who ride on this dude for trading away so many coins don't realize that it was literally worthless at the time of the pizza purchase.

i mean, it was gonna have a value eventually either way, but laszlo definitely is an accelerator of the revolution.

I spent 1K BTC on a gram of coke. Where's my holiday?

why? desu, I dislike when people look back and project what they already know on the situation. there was no reason to think that BTC was ever going to be worth anything in the very earliest of days. I remember the environment at the time. I personally set up the build to mine in late 2009, but decided it was kind of dumb and a waste of time. in 2009, you couldn't just create a new currency and expect much from it.

keep in mind too that bitcoin wasn't even the first digital currency experiment. nothing of value came before it though....just experiments. nobody really thought btc would become what it did.

he didnt imply causation, they would do it anyway and probably be dtf if he didnt leave

You got a way better deal than he did.

no most people had no clue, but satoshi, finney, and a lot of others did know. i'm pretty sure laszlo was one of them.

it was the first currency without a central entity.

Oooooof

Was it at least some face melting pure?

no it wasn't. look into Finnley's past work. BTC was an improvement in that it solved the double spend issue more elegantly than anything anyone had come up with before.

even hal was surprise to see btc gain value though. he said as much many times. people didn't mine and work on btc in teh early days because they thought it would be worth something, they did it because it was the kind of geek shit they were into.
