By far the biggest volume is through CFDs since 2018 which cuts in to the volume that would otherwise be on BTC/USD and USDT pairs and also reduces demand for lending.
This is the biggest "artificial" factor and it's suppressing price not pumping yet still we pump.
Tether gives you some of the advantages of crypto without the price fluctuations of Bitcoin which is very attractive to some, it's competition to Bitcoin that moves money out of Bitcoin. It suppresses price yet still we pump.
