It's a functioning cryptocurrency with a fresh idea and solid development (so far). It doesn't ask for anything except a bit of time (no staking to invest in), it doesn't promise riches or exponential growth. You may not like the idea or the imperfect execution or the already existing technical debt (sharding needs to be implemented), but you can hate any of the new projects based on that.

Yes, to reward inviters for positive network growth. This has been discussed a thousand times already, you stop receiving rewards past the third epoch, and you don’t receive rewards for their invites (which in itself doesn’t make this MLM/ponzi). Nodes that commit to 3 validations are likely to maintain their nodes and become a human, which is the principle of the network (verified semi-unique/unique identity; not to mention maintaining human across 2 nodes is difficult). Also prevents motivated bad actors from corrupting the network, or an influx of dogshit flips from people that can just tag in and not be vetted (which is what we see in probably 5-10% of flips; I usually have 2 or 3 bad ones out of 20 or so).
