I am not saying ONE will be ethkiller. But shit can still go wrong for ETH. Bitcoin is king. But because it became digital gold. Its useless as peer to peer cash.
Eth is totally in pole position, but if all the delays keep going on, companies using eth will get frustrated. Devs might want to move on from Solidity. What ETH wants is complicated. And shit can go wrong. And a new bullrun can put pressure on ETH as scaling isnt fixed yet.
Ultimately ETH needs to have excellent Tech. And its not there yet. And nobody really knows how long its going to take. We are not even at phase 0. Sharing is phase 1

Solidity has an ecosystem, developer acceptance and lots of tooling. EVM is not going to go away. It's POSSIBLE that something else can com along to usurp DEFI from Solidity but it's becoming less and less likely. Cardano will probably be better, but too nerdy/haskell based to catch on. That's why a performant, EVM, PoS, Sharded network without the years of tech debt and data bloat that comes with ethereum can still upset the entire game.
