Is doing bachelor's in Maths worth it? or should I choose Computer Science?

is doing bachelor's in Maths worth it? or should I choose Computer Science?

Why not both? I think it was only like 2-3 more courses to get the bachelors in Math when I got my BS in comp sci. There is so much overlap in courses already.

it looks different in my country

Brazil mutts.

go for it user ! itll help you learn to use your brain deeper than CS . You can later learn the syntax of any programming language .

eastern europe

Do CS or have basically a worthless undergraduate degree that you can’t do anything with unless you pursue grad school

bbbump

Have you looked at the requirements for the position you're interested in? Will a "maths" degree get you that jerb? No, no it won't.

bunp

comp sci. i have a degree in math, it's worthless. don't believe the "UR REALLY SMART IF U HAVE A MATH DEGREE U CAN DO ANYTHING!!!! BUSINESSES WILL LUV U!!!!" memes propagated by moron undergrads and professors i.e. 57 year old men who have never left school. businesses don't give a fuck about your math degree. study comp sci.

math is based, but focus of computational math
unfortunately this will not happen before 3/4 years of courses since they are pretty standard at the beginning

user you should unironically focus on zero knowledge math, it's the future of cryptography

why not both? do statistics and get a masters in computer science with emphasis in machine learning

Math is not based. Biz is collectively retarded for thinking most scientists and mathematicians are making it. They’re not. You’re better off with a CS degree.

Haha I was unemployed for 2 years after getting an applied math degree. Probably had to do with living in SoCal, not by choice.

CS for sure

You can learn programming without a CS degree, but you cannot learn math without studying math
You will have a crazy solid background with a math degree
We are not talking about going full retard with some abstract theoretical only math, we are talking about cryptography, zero knowledge proofs, etc, and a math guy with these skills is paid quite a lot
Also quant finance is based, most of it it’s stochastic math which makes you more money but it’s more boring than cryptography I guess

>Probably had to do with living in SoCal, not by choice
World has 200+ nations
If you draw a circle around you that’s not an applied math problem
CS is literally for code monkeys
Computer Engineering is something on the middle, it gives you a pretty solid math background
Math degrees, you will have to learn to code by yourself

Or you could get into something at least kinda fun like networks.

very based. Most CS will ended up competing with pajeets javascript monkeys . Math gives you a stronger Brain Power where you can easily learn any abstraction they throw at you. CS's brains are all scattered in multiple programming frameworks .

>get a CS degree and easily get a job
>get a math degree to fulfill some autistic fantasy, have to teach yourself how to code, get blacklisted by human resources job application filters because they see you don't have a degree in CS and don't give a shit if you can code on your own

it's like you want to make your life more difficult by being an obtuse, autistic retard.

complete waste of time degree doesn't qualify for you for anything and
you don't even do any real math until you're third or fourth year literally just watch complex, real analysis, topology courses on youtube

wrong
you're better off going into data science out of the gate

get a CS degree and take a lot of math classes. get a minor if possible. disregard what low-iq developers say, there is a strong correlation between being good at math and being a good developer. i guarantee the majority of faang engineers (for example) were good math students.

some people are not gonna make it lol
falling for the muh superior abstraction meme

Maths major here

As a maths major I did more challenging stuff than most comp sci majors did.

However, I wish I had done more applied stuff. So I'd say study maths, with some pure maths to keep your mind sharp but also some programming and stats

Like 50% of math fags end up realizing their mistake and switch to CS mid-career.
Don't do that mistake.

I know a man in his 40s that got a bachelor’s in math and then worked at a comic book shop for years before finally going back to school to become a pharmacist. Math won’t get you shit.

Why do foreigners say “maths?” It’s pretty fucking gay

>will ended up

Like you, pajeet?

most of them don't even have a career they would be lucky to work at a kumon

fuck u americuck trump brownnoser
