watched the big short the other day for the third time, honestly top5 movies all time. best part is when they're talking to the douchebag mortgage brokers.

"Wall Street"
(not the wolf of wall street)
what the fuck are you on about, I actually think they never show a chart the whole movie
theres nothing that weird about looking at your holdings through a better volatility model and realizing youre probably fucked.. i understand it was a bit cheap but how were they supposed to portray it? it was more interesting in terms of watching a board room go to shit tho. but i meant it was better than i expected and i expected total shit
I wish they took us through the data thoroughly and only resumed the movie once the CPA's amongst us were on the same page as the characters
actually never mind the coomer inside me says best scene is margot robbie explaining shit in a bath
I feel like they dumbed it down (I guess rightfully because it was meant for a broad audience)
I like the fact that Jim Grant got a mention though.
Boiler Room
Wall St.
Wall St. 2
Wolf of Wall St (for the lulz)
The Founder
The Big Short
All The Money in the World
Gold (for PMfags)
Documentary: The Money Masters (only one you need to watch)
they sort of explained it but briefly and its hard to decipher without prior knowledge. basically firms use VaR models that are actually decent at gauging risk exposure but only if you use the correct distribution assumptions for volatility. volatility is never normally distributed in reality and has fat tails so if you use an inaccurate distributoin like that, your VaR is way lower than it seems. its likely the guy who got fired used a better, more complicated distribution to model it and the 95 VaR now showed they were exposed to more than all of the firms assets and even at lower confidence levels so one bad swing would crush them
Boiler Room is such a shit fucking movie stop shilling it. Only the pnd pajeets here would appreciate that garbage.
The Laundromat is good
The only good scene in Boiler Room is where the guy reconciled with his father.
it's meme-tier for sure; but there are some funny moments. not to be taken seriously. relax, guy
>Documentary: The Money Masters (only one you need to watch)
are you talking about this 3 hr, 30 year old pbs doc on youtube im looking at? you better shill it more if you expect me to sit through this
yes, that's it. it explains everything. definitely worth the watch. but only for those who are curious and do not need to be entertained in order to learn.
Numb3rs
i forget the exact name but i think "the monster from jeckle island"
The Creature for Jekyll Island
>*from
Picrelated is pretty good, though idk if it's Zig Forums enough
American Psycho is good for seeing Zig Forums culture rather than Zig Forums topics
i loved this doc, got me interested in economics and finance. wild shit
Only one good movie, that's the wolf of Wallstreet.
who the fuck recommended the china hustle to me before? it was decent in premise but the faggy narrative the whole time ruined it. especially the end. wahhh these poor investors went into chinese companies and got burned :( how about dont be a faggot who complains when you get burned on a risky asset
it was the (((jews))). Literally, Roth Capital was founded by jews. Jews + Chinks, just like with the virus. They're always at fault user
If you want a documentary.
>Princes of the Yen
The Big Short is a really fun movie. There aren't any other business movies worth watching.
>The Creature for Jekyll Island
So close, that is a book!
Also, Glengarry Glen Ross
Boiler Room
Pi, Falling Down
I always post this, my favorite documentary about finance
