if i ever make it and have over 1 million in assets i'll prob stop working and just buy a house and live off passive income like dividends/staking rewards. i might do the expat thing though living in someplace like SE Asia or south america is very cheap compared to the US and the dollar goes a long away (at least for now). i'll also prob get over a million when my parents pass on in the next 20 years unless they end up in a nursing home for years and lose all their money.

i don't really have any plans to get married and start a family but if i do you're gonna want to live in a place with good schools and plenty of stuff for kids to do. a lot of these places that have big houses for sub 300K are in the middle of nowhere with bad schools. like florida is going to have really cheap housing in the next 20 years as boomers die off but i would never want to live there.

maine is pretty decent but some areas have huge somalian immigrant populations so you're gonna want to avoid them if you're a Zig Forumstard. portland is pretty nice though. not a bad area to live in.

vermont is very liberal i don't think you're gonna want to move there.

west virginia is full of opioid addicted hillbillies and white trash.

NH is fairly politically conservative in some areas and is very white. i'd say your top 2 choices should be maine and NH.

had a meeting with the big boss today who said that we're probably going to shift to permanent WFH, which means I'll be free to move anywhere and keep my current job.

thought about it for a bit though and there's nowhere else I really want to move. Already live in a low tax, low COL state with zero income state income tax, and have a place right on the beach. what else could another state offer?

im in the process of buying my first investment property in texas. its just so damn cheap and the rental rate pays the mortgage itself. free house once you get around the downpayment.
plot twist i live in nyc and family owns a building here so i get the best of both worlds while also knowing that one day i'll have a multi million dollar building to rent or use as collateral etc
