I had a supervisor who had trouble keeping up with her work load and it made it hard for me to get her buy in on my projects as she was stressed and distracted and mostly wanted to make sure my projects didnt cause her any extra work.
I found a way to start suggesting her current projects as things I'd like to work on so she would assign them to me. Then I would ask for permission to utilize some of her other talent to assist and coordinate the projects. Over time, her staff realized the only way to get the supervisors approval was to run things through me.
Meanwhile, I was in the office early and late and would send work related emails cc'ing my supers boss on weekends asking for direction or just "Hi! just finished up the _____ project draft. If you can review it by Tuesday, I can stay late Wed and turn it around in time for you to send it around by Thursday. Thanks. this was FUN!"
Before long, he boss was just assigning me projects directly. After a while, they asked me to help with a ro-org and we made my boss redundant. She was let go and evidently cracked up and an hero'd.
Anyhow, the point of the story is I don't let bitches stand in my way.
