SEEDS

Anyone know of any creative ways to permanently store mnemonic seed phrases? I've heard the classic machine etch into a piece of steel, but that requires me to hand it over to someone with a milling machine. Preferably analogue methods, but I'm open to any ideas.

Tattoo it into your sack and then go volcel

3d printer

get a gun safe and scratch your code to the inside of it behind a false wall

you divide your seed words into 3 columns, say 24 word seed means 8 words in a column.
then you write down on 3 pieces of paper 3 different pairs of columns.
it's a 2 of 3 scheme. to retrieve the complete seed you need 2 pieces of the 3 paper. that means a single one getting lost or compromised is no real danger to you.

then store the 3 papers at 3 different locations. preferably hidden.

can be done by pen & paper. better than retarded plate etchings and stuff.

best would be to use shamirs of course but it requires tooling.

You can write it down and bury it and it will last your entire lifetime. I keep one inside the house in a fireproof bag hidden as well.

you need better secure redundancy than a single point of failure.

anyone finding it or it getting destroyed by a fucking meteorite can not be the end of your wallet! that's the proper way to think about it.

desu I also keep a copy in my father's safe at work. But if a meteorite takes me out no one will know wtf to do with the seed. I guess I better tell someone in case of the meteorite. Damnit.

if you are really nervous of your environment do this. Write down the seed phrase in various locations, inside favourite books. Even email it to yourself.....but here is my cunning plan.

Change one seed word so you write one seed word wrong that you can remember. Say turn one word plural. Guns instead of gun. Or related like turn house into home, greed into greedy etc...then you only got to remember one word.

multiple copies are not proper secure redundancy it's just multiple instances of single points of failure in case of theft.

you better break that fucking seed up!

pretty stupid that's 10^5 security that's nothing even my phone could rack it in minutes.

no, you need at least 6 to 8 words security at the bare minimum! and that's only adequate if you can detect a breach and can move your coins within a day or so.

good idea user

last pass

There a few memory tricks that might work for you, you can try "engraving" your words in a memory/image in your head.
For example I have a password on the front door of my old house

Based af

years ago when I was studying linguistics on the side, I came up with my own script. I have my seed phrase written down in this script that I have never shared with anyone, and that I would never forget. If I really wanted to, I could get this artificial script tattooed on myself and people most likely wouldn't even realize it's language rather than random lines, much less what the significance of it was.

Shamirs is snakeoil

Post a pic

no

Pick a transaction hash on the Blockchain that only you know. Use that as your private key

How would one detect a breach? Even if you could, wouldn't it already be too late?

Interesting, then what? Encrypt it using PGP and then save the encrypted message wherever? Would the only thing I have to remember be the exact date and time of the transaction hash? Excuse my lack of knowledge

Guess you script isn’t that uncrackable.

>not owning or having access to a milling machine at least
jesus fuck what is nubiz

Etch into dogtag. Not plain text but some kind of simple encryption with a password should be fine.

Don't know about going the encryption way, would guess just the date and time, block number. Thought it was a clever way to choose a pk. Who's to say that someone doesn't have a script that scans all tx hashes and checks what's inside the wallet?

1.) spend 5 minutes and memorize it.
2.) check yourself every other day for 6 weeks to ensure the memory is locked in.
3.) use this same seed to derive every crypto wallet you own

thats literally the point of a mnemonic seed is so you can memorize it.

stop being a fucking faggot and do it yourself with some tools, no cnc mill bullshit required

Write a paragraph where every sentence starts with a word that is x behind or in front of your actual seed word. Email it to yourself and never use that email

People forget things. He could hit his head one day and just forget. There has to be a backup. The solution for those not tech savy is to put pen to paper and write down your seed phrase. Laminate tge paper. Put the laminated paper in a fire proof lock box. Store the box somewhere noone will look for it or find it. It's water proof and fire proof.
