Ren is a decentralized trustless custodian. It can store any blockchain's tokens on it's protocol. The obvious, most notable, token that has been integrated is Bitcoin. But you have to understand the implications of this. Fortune 500 companies will never trust Ethereum with significant amounts of their equity on Ethereum. They will have their own blockchains or use Libra. That means they will impart the risk on the buyer of their equity if the buyer wants to use defi protocols(aave, compound). Decentralized Custodians are the next step in crypto.
>Speed
Ren modified Tendermint, the BFT consensus software Cosmos created to achieve 10,000 transactions per second. This is almost 6 times as fast as VISA. They basically stripped Cosmos down to an exchange level and built it on top Ethereum(a 100k bond of the Ren erc20 token is needed to run a dark node). The Ren team realized Cosmos and Polkadot will never achieve Ethereum's liquidity and network effect, as Ethereum will become the settlement layer of finance. Ren's first implementation with Bitcoin, Zcash, and Bitcoin Cash is a red herring in a way. They will become the scaling solution for Ethereum, as 10,000 TPS is currently 5 times faster than zkrollups, what loopring implemented. Ren will be the offchain solution for ALL ERC20 TOKENS
The reason blockchains want to have wrapped coins on ethereum is to get exposure to it's stablecoin liquidity. Ethereum has billions worth of stablecoins that will not move to another eth killer. Also, aave, compound, and Maker allow for leveraging assets in decentralized, trustless liquidity pools. Maker is begging for more assets to maintain dai's peg to the dollar. They were so desperate they implemented Wrapped Bitcoin which isn't decentralized(Ren team helped them). But AAVE is on the Ren alliance and will be the first defi protocol to implement renBTC and allow to be leveraged. This is confirmed by their integration dev. If you can't afford a dark node, aave is the next best option. There will be a liquidity pool for hundreds of millions of renBTC on aave before Maker gets out of bed.
Why not simply use cosmos? Ren has copied cosmos, so...

Nobody will ever use your eth killer. Give it up.
Hunter Scott
Cosmos will never have the liquidity or network effect of Ethereum. Ethereum has a cultish following of developers. What's brilliant is this is juxtaposed by institutions who trust ethereum with onboarding their stablecoins. Coinbase has put billions worth of usdc on ethereum, and one of their executives executive was chosen as COO of the US Office Comptroller of the Currency. Binance trusts ethereum with their stablecoin. Gemini(Winklevoss) bros trust ethereum with their stablecoin.

I can buy 100k ren and 100k aave right fucking now. Will I make it if I do this?
Oliver King
I wish there were less devs trying to compete and kill other projects. There are so many opportunities to build parallel to bitcoin and ethereun, or build on top of bitcoin or ethereum.
Dominic Smith
non hateful. rational free advice to tezos, cosmos, and all "eth killers" you are right. eth has lots of flaws with it. you were smart to realize that. BUT you guys need to accept that the war is over. eth for all its gay flaws and middling project management, achieved network effect dominance. Your best 3 options in order: (a) hop on eth train (b) do as REN has done and come up with cross chain solutions (c) say fuck eth, but push btc solution like rootstock or native simplicity language once released
these are the only 3 paths that will have any long term future moving forward.

>Zig Forums better wake up to Ren and AAVE and here's why: I'm holding bags.
I honestly think eth killer projects are just tricking gullible VC funds. A lot of them won't consider missing Ethereum a sunk cost.
a6z's near investment and bitmains eos investment are the most egregious examples
William Torres
I think there's room for niche blockchains like with tezos & real estate
Austin Clark
so much of their marketing is that they will kill eth though. Not healthy for the space.
Ryder Morgan
agree. I came into this space rooting for other blockchains. Nigga nothing's beating Ethereum.

>If you can't afford a dark node, aave is the next best option. you mean just buy LEND and hold? or for example buy it, add to uniswap liquidity and then deposit uniswpa tokens on aave platform? or is it too risky? also is it possible REN token will be available to deposit on aave? im a simple eth holder and feel like a fucking brainlet in the defi sphere, not even sure where to begin educating myself
Michael Baker
Chris Blec has a great video on it. If you decide to use aave, test with small amounts first.
I'm not sure if the actual Ren token will be there but renBTC is being integrated as we speak. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce it at hackmoney on june 2nd.
Jeremiah Roberts
watching it now thanks user

REN better take off soon. I filled up my bags bigly and am ready for takeoff. 10k sats here we come.
i was seriously impressed by how snappy it was. i set it up on a weak chromebook and you usually really feel zoomer web 5.0 layouts on that pentium. oh and looks great too.
Jason Diaz
This team is filled with perfectionists. From top to bottom, this project is perfect.

>cosmos doesn’t have a network effect so we forked their code
Nobody is buying your shitcoin OP

is this anons first introduction to open source?
They modified tendermint. This isn't a pivx fork like ghost
