Imagine this, year 2020, there are two kinds of people:
- there are people launching rockets into space
- and there are people shitposting on Zig Forums
Feels awful to be the latter and honestly I feel like my life is meaningless and inferior when I see what big boys are doing with the world.

Why do I care about humanity on a grander scale? Humanity is fine how it is and how it was. I'm happy, my wife is happy, my kids are happy, that's all that matters to me. You have a very distorted view on the meaning of life, what is this artificial goalpost we have to push humanities technical abilities towards for us to be successful? Then what? You aren't just some cog in some multi-generational machine to pump out some great human achievement, you are here to just live life, and in that process humans naturally progress in the goal of providing better comfort for their kids. If you don't have your own children why are you working so hard to improve the future?

The goal post is not to push technology for the sake of technology but for the sake of a better life for all. There are so many obvious problems with the world, from health issues like cancer ruining people's lives to poverty and lack of good education to climate change and unsustainable energy usage, I could keep on going...
Pushing humanity forwards means helping develop solutions to improve the quality of life for all, I don't see how having a wife and kids does that in any way besides making yourself happy which is great but not particularly beneficial for anyone else.
Why would one need to have kids to want to improve the world? Do you not care for other humans but those who share your DNA? Besides, do you not benefit yourself if the world is better?
Making a family is probably one of the most meaningful things you can do, do you seriously think you’re above that since you were born into a generation with the internet?

Ultimately my point is that having kids should not be done in order to give meaning to one's life (as that would be selfish) but rather as a recognition that life is beautiful and as such take a conscious decision to create more life and bring people into this world so that more people can have the chance to experience life.

Are you that dumb or are you trolling? It may not give meaning to you, but it gives meaning to the person starting a family. Life has a different for every individual. Pushing humanity is the collective efforts of society. So in that sense having kids is pushing humanity forward.
