Back when algorithmic trading first started the guys working in college dorms and basements made a killing. Then standards ossified and value became marginal after competition with big players.
The dynamics of defi level out the playing field significantly. No competition for trading floor real estate for microsecond advantage, working algorithms have to be modified and data collection changed, flash loans allow small fish to pull market making moves.
It's all so awesome to be an autistic trading programmer with market and machine learning knowledge right now.
