I bought an Oil ETF when it was low and it's doing quite well so far. I also invested into another ETF I've had for a while.

They've changed the rules on CERB more than once since it was first delivered. Use the Way Back Machine to pull the FAQ and eligibility checklist if you want to build a case against them and make a good faith case for the government's calling you fraudulent is in bad faith. They are doing retroactive shit to claw things back.

If you've made over $240,000 between January and March, why the fuck are you lamenting taxes on your 8000 CERB dollars? You should have this shit handled and your taxes are probably complicated already since only a fucking retard would be making that kind of salary without taking advantage of investments and tax mitigation.

People earning median will have only made 25-40k before moving on to CERB and, even if this shit went into 2021, will be taxed on $18,000 CERB at a max rate of 35% if you live in quebec & 28% in BC. Probably less for people whose CERB brings them up to 45-50K.

Those 200k were just the ones who "double dipped" and got 4k from service canada and the CRA per month, 1/4 of the country is on it and everyone under 30 Ive talked to is on it without being qualified. First Trudeaus law didnt pass that made it criminal, second it was worded as only if you intentionally defraud them, not by accident.

There are no investment or tax mitigation applicable until you make approx 1m a year. More than that and donations are more favorable than taxes, but not so if it's any less. Investments except in rrsp (which is way too limited to be worth shit in that context) don't reduce taxes on that income except if you want to carry a loss forward, but that's only useful if your salary greatly increases year on year (otherwise it's just a net loss). There isn't a single good tax accountant in the entire country, they're all clinically retarded (literally can't even do the simplest taxes and yet charge tens of thousands) so more complex opportunities are not available either.
Might be different in the "special" provinces though.
