Here's what it looks like... You make $5 in a day and you think "hmmm that was interesting..." Stocks go up, stocks go down, stocks go up... You make $10 in a day and you think "hmmmm that was interesting..." Pepper in some enormously scary dips, some suboptimal trades, some trades that make you think you're going to be a millionaire, and fast forward... You make $1,500 in a day and think "hmmm that was interesting..." and the stocks keep going up and they keep going down. If your approach is on point you'll know it and then it's just a matter of not doing anything so stupid that it fucks up what's working. You won't really be THAT stressed when you're doing something that works. At that point, you're more likely to over-optimize and break what's working.
It was always great having an AAPL cushion to fall back on, but for my dad it’s been mainly a source of regret. If he had forgone buying even one expensive Mac laptop in the 90s and put the cash into AAPL instead my parents would retire as millionaires today.
