It'll have to be one step down and come a couple years from now. crypto moves in increments. 2009 saw bitcoin solve the double spend problem. 2014 saw ETH take that concept and made it turing complete to enable smart contracts. 2017 saw chainlink take that concept and make data onramps to allow said smart contracts to be useful. 2020 has the potential of seeing DMM take those data onramps to enable useful defi. If DMM succeeds and takes up the mantle of the cutting edge, the next stage will be something that adds utility to dmm's defi advances. Intrastage periods see clones and competitors of the previous stage, ie prior to ethereum, the crypto space was about creating blockchains that compete with bitcoin, and after ethereum but before chainlink, the space was about creating competing smart contract platforms and ecosystems. but the next stage doesn't start with something that tweaks or copies the previous, but instead somethings that adds to and transcends it. this makes it inherently impossible to predict what the next stage will be until it happens, all you can do is stay on your toes.

On the side note, people don´t realize but this is the thing Sergey autistically speaking about for years. off chain on chain revolutiany shit which need decoracles to make APY. Bubble. Hundreds of defi dao´s. And they all need one thing. Chainlink provides that.
