>the stock market is about to go off the cliff again, likely due to some major institution filing for bankruptcy.

It seems like the user is using a VPN since his credentials are from Florida Something tells me that one of the banks has gone tits up. Carnival and Royal Caribbean going under wouldn't be a surprise. I wouldn't consider them "major institutions" either.

The market is perfect, you can't cheat the market, the market is self correcting, they don't even have room for more paper.

IBM has been down in the gutter since the last economic crisis. Yeah they employ like 390k people, but they've also not made in a profit in almost a decade. IBM is 99% unserviceable debt, putting off their collapse. The only reason they currently still exist is thanks to decades upon decades of legacy systems being held hostage by them. Their corporate debt will topple this giant without anyone seeing it coming.
This would be nostalgic but yeah, I didn't even remember IBM still exist.
They're the pioneers of linux right? wow. Why would you even think they'll go under, is an oil dependent company, most likely in transportation.
I don't see any technology company going under any time soon, IBM is like not even relevant right now, most zoomers don't even know what IBM is
>Why would you even think they'll go under
Three simple reasons:
>companies aren't buying their new products
>companies are phasing out their expensive old products
>they aren't properly maintaining their old products
To give you a perspective, DB2 didn't even have a boolean data type until version 11.1 which came out in like 2019 or something. Most basic SQL stuff doesn't work and nothing is properly documented. People are about as excited about most IBM products as they are for Oracle SOA suite and similar products.
Maybe if they would simply cut off the dead branches of the company they'd be able to grow again.
