its when you leave your house that they enter and hack

I meant can they hack my Ledger if they’re not nearby

You can give your Ledger to pajeets and they can't hack it. That's the beauty of it.

The only thing protecting your funds on a ledger is a 4-8 digit pin. There's a mechanism that will allegedly destroy the keys if entered wrong 3 times, but software and hardware can be altered. In the end of the day your keys are protected with a very bad password.
If your ledger never leaves the house, you might as well buy a very old thinkpad (or any laptop really) and keep it airgapped, it's not gonna be more expensive, and it could be protected with a real password.

Yeah.

>but software and hardware can be altered
Bullshit. There's a reward for Ledger if you can do that. Try.

there is a pajeet in every ledger

The fact that they have a reward, is proof in itself that this can be done, and they expect this to be done.

trezor is infinitely better because of the price locking function

Something i dont get about ledger, if I try recovery words at random, there is a (very small, but non-zero) chance I would generate the private keys of an existing account, and be able to transfer the funds into another account, right?

I am hacking now sirs

>implying you can build a full bulletproof system

Math.

there's a list of more than 2000 words for a 24 words passphrase with order so I guess that's 2000^24 possibilities ?
I think that's not bruteforcable
Correct me if I'm wrong on the calculation

i just want a comfy nite at Umaru's house, eating pizza, playing vidya, and having cola other snackus with senpai. until we fall asleep around the kotatsu surrounded by plushies of our favourite animal characters

based senpai. how can she be so perfect
precious little nugs

sure just bruteforce through 2^256 possible keys

Do you get an unlimited # of attempts?

Yes. A lot of people think ledgers are secure because you have to press the physical button yourself to confirm any action, but this is misleading at best.

Any malicious actor with fingers long enough to close the gap between themselves and your ledger could press the button, potentially sending your funds anywhere!

Stay away from ledger.

also this. my trevor is basically the only reason I have made any money at all during this bear market

Lol if all 8 billion people on earth wanted your private key they'd all have to attempt 1.5*10^67 different passwords individually before one worked.

Thats only an average. They could guess it on the first try. A private key isn't even that many numbers

Are you retarded? This is standard business practice for any company. If you don't offer a rewards program that is lucrative - ethical people have no incentive to help you, there'd be only unethical people looking to exploit your system and they sure as fuck won't hand it over for free when they can make bank exploiting it in secret.

Literally every company that values security has a bounty program.

Yeah and that’s why SHA-256 is regarded as „secure“

I'll take my chances it's more than a trillion times more likely for someone to get struck by lightning twice on the same spot on different weeks and win the mega millions lottery grand prize twice in a row than it is to guess a private key in your lifetime.

They're not gonna use duplicate words in the same password though right? Isn't the answer really 2000*1999*1998*...*(2000-23)?
