Kusama is basically a testnet, polkadot is the real deal afaik.

it's not really as much a test net as it is a canary network. it's got faster block times, so it'll just have different use cases than polkadot. kusama gets its designation as a canary network, as experimentation on kusama will provide a more accurate understanding of how a particular parachain, blockchain component, or validator setup will perform under real-world conditions, with lower stakes in the event of problems or bugs than on polkadot.

somewhat.. since KSM is faster but less secure, some Substrate apps that can trade off security for speed (ex: social apps) will prefer being live on Kusama rather than Polkadot

It makes sense to accumulate KSM prior to DOT. I heard there is an airdrop of some sort where KSM holders get DOT as well.

Just looking at etereum classic, the shitcoin not meant to work with ethereum it is at a >$600 mil mcap and Ethereum at >$25billion. Just judging by the IOUs and past ICO of polkadot placing it at a $1.5 billion mcap . If it really challenges Ethereum (which it will) we can easily see Kusama at a minimum of a $250 mil mcap which is a 50x from here. I bought this at $1 and am still holding dont be fudded out of this by idiots who dont even know how staking this works . (FYI: Extremely hard to buy this as 74.5% of supply is staked: stakingrewards.com/asset/kusama )
