No, that can actually work if you also put a holy symbol (your favorite coin or metal piece can work here too) in the water with it. It won't do much to the liquid's physical properties, but when done correctly, you can literally create holy water!
i have a buffalo round that i could put in water or milk to keep it fresh. useful if the power goes out or the water supply gets tainted, i guess. that happens

Silver is antimicrobial in liquids. Basically kills any organic material so keeps liquids from being overpopulated with bacteria.
