Just for argument's sake, say that the stock market did a 1929, not only crashing 90% from here, but the crash taking about two years to reach bottom and some 25 years to recover. In such a scenario, would most of you just think it's over and give up on stocks, or would you just change your strategies and try to make money in that market too?

I'm already bunkered up for the long haul, no matter what happens what is most important is to have a decent source of income that will sustain anything short of the apocalypse. Besides that, wealth preservation with a careful equities balance and a variety of other assets.
