main net will come Q3 this year after the tendermint 3 testnet (with rewards) and after the V3 desktop client release
the nodes are hosted by the community so i guess the answer is in people houses, also prob data centers with spare capacity can host some, point is anybody with idel bandwidth can now sell it on a global market

there will be 3 types of nodes (after sentinel relay net):
-normal exit nodes which will be hosted by advanced users and data centers they offer most risk but also much higher reward
-relay nodes these nodes will be hosted by consumers like you and never come in contact with unencrypted data so they are completely safe
-tor exit nodes this type of nodes are aimed at users that host tor exit nodes already so they can get revenue for the service they offer for free by funneling sent data directly into tor
