None of the characters other than MC has any personality. Even him hardly has any.
His "friends" are just hanging around him cause he's a noble with OP stats. They're more like ass kissers than actual friends.

Most isekai LN authors have no creativity, the settings are almost all generic fantasy shit with overpowered MC like this.

Even shows with generic settings can manage to be enjoyable as long as the characters are good.

It is. It's one of those few times when a protagonist does something actually morally questionable, but the author completely fails to flesh it out. It just sort of happens.

That sucks. There's so much wasted potential because the MC just has to be a "perfect" character to the point of passivity. Like when the lords were arguing over how much to pay him for the dragon bones, or him offering to buy his brother some wedding presents. There are far more complex interactions that could have been made out of those scenarios, but we don't get even a bit of that.

They could have had the MC look at the situation, realise that his brother was totally unfit to run the fief, engineer some scheme to demonstrate his incompetence and find legal ways to seize it for himself in order to develop the land and help people there, etc. And then the brother could get into some kind of accident and die, and the MC could feel a bit of remorse over it. That would be far better.

Starting to feel that a lot this episode. The only form of disagreement came from his party. Even that was to suck on the MC's ego.

Yeah, the constant ego-sucking really annoys me in isekai. It's part of the reason why I couldn't stand Kenja no Mago. Showing all the supporting characters as constantly being in awe of the brilliance of the MC gets extremely tiring.

That's kind of dumb. Marrying your dead brother's wife was considered perfectly normal a very long time ago because it meant that she and her children would be supported.

It feels like the show just outright refuses to do what it wants. It tries to be a light-hearted isekai adventure with fun characters, have spectacular battles, and have serious politics and intrigue. It tries all of that at the same time, but doesn't end up delving into any particular aspect in a satisfactory manner. It feels very by the numbers and lukewarm, as if it's doing what's expected of it, rather than doing what it wants.
It's kind of amusing, since the MC's story so far is exactly that. Instead of being out there, having cool adventures with quirky companions, he's stuck in some generic fantasy city with some random "friends" he picked up for the hell of it, while also having to deal with soulless nobles and their shitty schemes. It's funny in a really sad way.

I had that exact same problem with Isekai Cheat Magician and Kenja no Mago. There's no sense of adventure or grandeur; it feels like every single problem they dramatically resolve is incredibly petty or trivial in its own way. A nation-destroying threat becomes purely an irritation.

The show is very slightly meta in an self-unaware way.

It would have been funny if they made that a point and try to explore on that idea.
Instead it's just sad, dude has no friend or family, everyone is just using his status for some kind personal goal. The most decent person around is the the brother in this episode who doesn't even do anything but talk to him sometimes.

Because the manga has done everything after Wendolin grew up better while the anime has been insanely rushed. This is ironic because anime handled the Sensei's arc at the start better precisely because it didn't rush it like manga which gave the scene when Wendolin exorcised his teacher far more emotional impact

I've read the manga, but just watching the anime it seems like anyone would feel like his "friends" are just a bunch of leeches who sit around his house and spend his money. But the cracks are starting to show. Usually i like the isekai genre. But this sure as fuck reminds me of that POS Kenja no Mago.
Isekai medieval political manoeuvring, could have been great. I don't mind the OP powers that some people sperg the fuck out over. That is just a given, as you would not watch or read a story about a weak beta getting beaten in shounen level fights. It wastes the premiss with the quite great opening with the zombie master wizard and the drama with him having to dust him. I will generally keep watching it as there if fuck all else to watch this season.

There's nothing wrong with your eric greentext, if the OP MC is handled well then it's great, and this show was handling it very well for the first 3 episodes, the whole political background and worldbuilding was set in such a way that regardless of MC OPness he would still have to think very well before using that power, episode 4 didn't really did anything offensive but it kinda dropped the ball and episode 5... I really have no way to defend episode 5, blue girl is very cute though.

Dialogue so far makes it sound like only people attuned to kami-sama get special powers, so by default he IS in their faction.

The scene with the king where they are deciding his reward is not even worth mentioning. It tells us nothing about any faction. Only the King looks shady and how he is presented in the OP for the show makes him a look like a villain.
