I think this is a good way to say things. Now, if your art is completely incomprehensible, then it might cause issues. But a lot of popular comics in the world, eastern or western, don’t necessarily have amazing artwork. Admittedly they’re mostly webcomics from what I’m thinking of. Stuff like xkcd doesn’t rely on its art, though it’s also not trying to craft a narrative.
