How come this managed to get a remake? And how is it still popular?

Author threw a bitchfest over the first one and got her remake.
Two decades later?
No she didn't. She always openly disliked the original anime but it got a remake because of its 20 year anniversary
All I remember of this series is the author got upset at fujos shipping her characters so a lot of the popularity died because she shut that down somehow.
Best selling Shoujo in the US and a timeless(outside of the technology) love story. In short it's Shoujo kino
>Shoujo Kino
You mean cardcaptors?
How bad of a relationship does the author have with her parents? All of her series has at least one, typically more, character that has a fucked up childhood due to horrible parenting
i remember watching the original in grade 9, good times
Mahou Shoujo is practically a different genre but Cardcaptor Sakura is also kino. There can be more than one in a genre
Most teenage girls don't want to watch anime about a little girl, that's for little kids or grown men
Tohru?
Based anti-fujoshit mangaka.
Probably because of western interest if not outright funding, but it's maintained its popularity in Japan as well. There have been drama cds and stage adaptations, but no one talks about the shojo market.
This user is right. Shounen is for girls.
Is "battle shoujo" worthwhile? Complete fucking done with shonenshit forever after Naruto and Kishimoto's own statements in interviews along with how everything else I liked once turned out with speshul snowflaek shit.
>it got a remake because of its 20 year anniversary
no, it got it because she always hated the original. most series don't get remakes for their 20th anniversary. much cheaper to just release a new boxset, announce a sequel, or have the author pen a oneshot / spinoff and adapt that.
You can't make a sequel to the original because it kind of fucked up the story but also because it's extremely dated and no one wants to watch a second season to a show that aired 18 years ago
>battle shoujo
What would that be exactly? Like Immortal Rain? If so then yeah I guess
Anything with a focus on fighting assholes or monsters.
Does the remake have the same feel as the original?
The OP of the original is actually an effective tool to conditions you to be sad on the following scenes.
No it has less of a nostalgic feel. More modern. The ED of the second season samples For Fruits Basket though
The new one has had 3 openings so far.
I'm watching it with my mom, she really likes it.
I think it's pretty alright, supposed to be for girls and has that reverse harem thing going very strong, probably better done than I've ever seen reverse harem before. Not that I've seen it a lot.
There are a bunch of cute girls, Tohru of course also Saki, Kagura, Kisa...
Holy shit, when is Immortal Rain getting an anime?
Doing what you want with no fucks given about the fans is based. Getting worked so hard by fans that you try to spite them is unbased.
Never unfortunately
Teenage girls like romance though. I think you meant to reply to the Cardcaptor guy
What is it with shoujo romance mangaka having dogshit taste and hating adaptations that elevated the quality of their work?
Zenpen looks like ass compared to the original.
Nah, they have good taste and rightfully hate anime studios that fuck up their work. They're not obligated to like some shitty adaptation just because it's making them money.
If you think that FuruBa '01 is bad then you shouldn't be allowed to live. It's miles better than the dogshit remake.
>the author got upset at fujos shipping her characters
Based
The first anime is pretty universally considered shit by anyone that read the manga all the way through. It cuts out almost all of the character development (which is the point of the story) and it completely changes the villain and their motivation to some poorly explained nonsense.
B-but muh elevation muh directing muh nostalgia. Nobody should dislike anime studio fanfiction adaptations!
