MY FATHER DIED BECAUSE OF THAT I BECAME TOTALLY ALONE HE WAS MY ONLY FAMILY

I've been reading Violence Jack now that HnG is translating it and I love it. Seeing Violence Jack get violent with his jackknife is awesome every time
Brody Hall
I wish Crybaby didn't look so ugly. Maybe the next adaptation won't be so shitty.
HnG and Happyscans have been collaborating on it, they started from vol. 2 and just released vol. 9 2 days ago. It's pretty inconsistent but I don't mind waiting at all
Connor Gomez
There were a few shots in Crybaby that benefited from the style they went with, but..... Yeah, for the most part, it was atrocious.
I've literally seen YouTubers that animate better.
Given how inconsistent they are with Mad Bull 34 (please finish), I don’t have a ton of hope for Violence Jack ever getting done.

>Favorite Devilman story? The original manga. >Violence Jack or Devil Lady? Tough question, actually. Devilman Lady is more fun, Violence Jack has more gravitas. In dubio, I go with more fun here. >Will the Devilman saga ever get a proper ending? Define "proper ending". If you mean one that breaks its cyclical nature? Probably not, that would be going against its Faustian theme of physical determinism (as symbolized by God/Fate). >What's the best version of Devilman? The original manga. Or arguably the OVA if you're into anime and partial adaptations.
Grayson Edwards
It's almost like they stopped working on Mad Bull 34 (please finish) and picked up Violence Jack (please finish) it's all on mangadex
Julian Flores
>It still hurts bros... Dunno, Crybaby did hurt a lot, but I'm kinda over it. I accept that it exists and that I cannot ignore it because it has some of the most obnoxious fans, but it's no use crying about it. There will be another, hopefully better, adaptation one day.
>I don't really have an interest in Cyborg 009, so I've never seen it. Is it still worth watching/buying? I would give a try, some of the Devilman scenes are pretty cool. It's newbie friendly so it does go through some of the Devilman and 009 motions all over again only to be taken over by OC donut steel
Adam Russell
I really hate what they did to her and Ryu in Crybaby. She's just a perfect innocent maiden now. She's a saint and a lighthouse of morality, compassion and love. Self sacrificial to a degree where she throws her life away to possibly spark some hope. So fucking retarded, she's just some girl. All the attitute and temperament gone. Maybe the manga was kinda "bad" for how laughably simlistic and cartoonish the characters behaved but at least it makes sense thematically.
I don't get why so many people praised Crybaby when it came out, it was honestly one of the biggest disappointments of the year.
Hopefully Miki will get what she deserves in the next adaptation.
Grayson Gomez
Bump?
Adam Phillips
>I don't get why so many people praised Crybaby when it came out It was mostly people who didn't know anything about Devilman, the typical Netflix audience, people who eat up everything Yuasa makes (this includes many reviewers on those typical sites) and anime youtubers.
Lincoln Bell
I have never watched any series of this franchise. Is the crybaby series good? I only know about the meme run and some other funky looking animation clips.
Jack Bennett
I enjoyed Susano, too bad about the "ending." Greatest display of superpowers I've ever seen. I plan to go through Violence Jack, but I can't find proper dl.
Levi Reed
>Favorite Devilman story? the manga lol >Violence Jack or Devil Lady? violence jack >Will the Devilman saga ever get a proper ending? no because of netflix. thanks crybab! >What's the best version of Devilman? design wise? OVA or crybab. amon and 009 look like edgy deviantart ocs.
miki caused all the problems in the series simply by existing. if miki's mom had swallowed, akira would have fallen for ryo and nobody would have gotten hurt
>no because of netflix. I don't think I get your point. What does Netflix have to do with what Devilman will be in the future?
Colton Adams
I have only read the original Devilman and really loved it, but I never got around to trying any of his other works. Do they all take place in a shared world or ..?
Andrew Thomas
its a Zig Forums shitpost
Michael Edwards
>his other works >Do they all take place in a shared world You mean Nagai's? No, not really. Though there are countless crossovers and cameos, so if you're into "Pixar Theory" bullshit and not too hung up on consistency, you should easily be able to make something up that makes Devilman, Cutie Honey and Mazinger all happen in the same world.
Wyatt Myers
>Devilman, Cutie Honey and Mazinger I was thinking about Shin Devilman, Demon Knight, Devilman Lady and all the others that are listed as related on mangadex and have similar titles.
Lincoln Bennett
Well ... it's a bit easier for those to combine into one ... but then again, it isn't that easy either. Usually, the solution to that is the cyclic nature of the setting, the death/apocalypse and rebirth.
Same reason people liked Megalo Box. It makes them FEEL like they are watching a classic. That and the nice music.
Which is ironic because Crybaby is easily Yuasa's worst work. Devilman just doesn't fit him anyways.
Grayson Diaz
>Which is ironic because Crybaby is easily Yuasa's worst work. Doesn't matter to those people. They read "Yuasa" and out goes any objective standard they might have previously held. Suddenly, no matter how bad the writing is (by a writer who himself is not Yuasa), if Yuasa directed it, it's apparently the best writing ever. It's retarded, but that's how those people work.
Austin King
I read Susanoo has a sequel made by Nagai himself that extend the ending
Benjamin Diaz
It helps a lot that those people really, really hate Nagai and what he represents (the ultraviolent 80s/90s OVAs and flicks that popularized anime in the west)
Can I suggest not mentioning Violence Jack when talking about Devilman or in Devilman threads? I read Violence Jack without knowing it was related to Devilman and my dick reach maximum orbital altitude the moment I realize the true nature of the series. So, even if it's silly and almost unavoidable if you search information about the series, I think it would be nice for new readers to start reading Violence Jack like if it was just another Nagai manga with references (in any case, he you should read devilman, mazinger, mao dante, enma, etc first to get those references) to his other works and nothing more...
