How do we fix Overlord?
How do we fix Overlord?
Why by writing it yourself of course!
MARUYAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
KOTAEWA DOKO EEEEIIIIEEEEIIIIEEEEE
Pretty sure all you really need to do is have some threat that's actually, you know, A REAL THREAT.
The best thing would be another player or two other than himself, with their own guild. Japs fucking love their no-stakes power fantasy, so it'd never happen, though.
If only Touch Me was still here...
pro tip: you can't
Have a conflict. I get it, the MC's team is invincible and no other players exist, that's fine. But that's no excuse for there not to be any sort of engaging internal or external conflict. It's fucking boring.
Turn it into a gag novel
Touch Me most likely died in an 'accident' given he was a justice-obsessed policeman in a corrupt system
It should be one (or more) of the 41 that was also logged in but away from the guild, however seeing the monster momonga turned into they go against him. This would also break the undying loyalty the guardians have for momonga since they value all of the 41 equally. Although if it's one of the original creators of that guardians then no doubt they would join them instead of momonga.
>overlord
>no internal conflict
Why did whores from vol6 had to die again?
Just put it out of its misery
The author is looking for every excuse possible to just stop working on it
So Maruyama could get a kick out of it.
Non-reader concession accepted. Opinion discarded.
What's his endgame?
Cute babushka.
Did he ever found another player?
Turn the MC into a human and have him realize all the terrible shit he's done all at once. He's discovered by Albedo and killed. She only realizes what she's done after Nazarick shuts down.
Change the isekai video game beginning. Or at the very least take out the video game aspect.
>10,000 years into the past
>a soldier rises the ranks in his army
>see's tactics being used for and against him during war
>decide that he's done with this after losing all of his friends in battle
>practices necromancy because he desperately wants them back
>Loses all chance to bring them back because of his inexperience at the start
>decide to go deeper down the rabbit hole of necromancy till he tries an experiment to become immortal
>leaves his undead servants to maintain his tomb while he experiments on immortality
>something goes horribly wrong and he ends up falling asleep for who knows how long
>fast forward to present day 10000 years later
>he awakes to his servants now explosively more powerful and his destitute tomb is now a grand lair or NAZARICK
>he decides to go outside
There now you have a new beginning with the same character and power.
Not all his servants are undead, you'd have to further justify why they're all immortal and if you do that the stakes drop even lower
Maruyama would be pretty based if he had the balls to do that.
to give shalltear a good human dicking.
>immortal
Well I didn't say it would work. He just becomes the overlord lich he is now.
>Experiments with all kinds of animals as he tries to discover their secrets to help his research
>gets his undead servants to go off and collect live samples for him so he never has to leave his tomb (to simulate his shut in personality)
>after the accident the undead continued to gather and raise different species
>over the 10000 years of increasing their power they were able to capture a few rare species like dragons and demi humans
>the descendants of these captured specimens who don't know the outside world are taught about the amazing Momonga-sama
>over time the denizens of Nazarick undead or living revere Momonga as their god
>He finally awakens to find Nazarick filled with all manner of creatures all powerful from years of the undead selecting only the strongest
I think you needed to have him... just show agency in an interesting way. Right now practically everything he's done has just been fucking around or getting manipulated by Demiurge. Step 1, find a way to kill Demiurge. If I was him, and we could go back to before he made himself known to everyone and made himself a huge target, my step 2 would be to send ALL the NPCs out into various parts of the world on extended information-gathering missions (with fairly strict rules not to cause serious problems or expose themselves unduly), and spend most of my time dropping in on each of them and seeing how things are developing with them. Step 3 would be to recall them all, collect all that information, and then make it clear to all of the NPCs that they are now free from any obligations to him, if they wish. At this point they have spent time away, seen parts of this world, and had time to develop as sentient beings, which up to this point they were not. It is only right to give them the opportunity to choose their path. Perhaps that results in a conflict or three down the line, but most of them would stick around, and then they wouldn't have the gross slavery vibes as much. If I was writing it, this is the point Demiurge would break off, and immediately begin causing problems, which the Overlord would find cause to smack him down with extreme prejudice. Then step 4 is making himself known to the world, as a powerful being who does not give a single fuck, but isn't needlessly cruel. They weren't too far off from that, but boy, he went a little far. The outside-Nazarick parts of the story are honestly all fine, and I don't have anything to change there. The village and Lizardmen tribes should, however, be better utilized after being absorbed, and carefully guided. It shouldn't be the random goblins helping fortify that village, it should be Nazarick, and the Lizardmen should similarly be helped. They have the resources, and it would help later with diplomacy.
Spinoffs where different members are in Momonga's place
So things like character designs will be a tiny different but it wouldn't effect the story very much. Ainz will still be this autistic figure with a nostalgia for his lost comrades who he fought with and he'll still be an all powerful shut in neet with no experience as being revered as a god. The only problem would be why would he want to conquer the world since he wouldn't have the same reason as wanting other players to recognize him. Now that I think about it, with the way Ainz is acting why would he want other players to recognize him? He's super cautious of other players and deems them as threats so why the hell is he spreading Nazaricks name all over the place?
It really wouldn't be a good thing for players to recognize him as the leader of that one faggoty RP guild that went around PKing everyone for no reason. They'd immediately become enemies.
It's dnd aspect
Start by changing the author. Even Editor-san would do.
What does that have to do with internal conflict? The only thing Ainz does is worry for a paragraph before brushing things off and carrying on. He doesn't give a shit.
Honestly if we're being realistic I don't know how many people would be so explosively petty to bring in game grudges out into this world were everyone is mortal and the only people who remember Japan are other players. The bigger issue would be that he is genociding humans
That has everything to do with you not reading the novel before discussing it you little shit.
Answer why did whores in vol6 had to die or your opinion about Overlord would become worthless to everyone in thread.
If you have read Overlord and you didn't like it - you would know the answer and I would accept your critique.
Literally just put another player in the fucking game, if the main character is going to be overpowered either make him destroy everyone without all this hesitation or give him one equal so the hesitation doesn't make it boring
<
What game?
>Hurr challenge durr equal
This isn't series about that. Did Lizards, Dwarves, Climb, Neia and Philip chapters did not make it obvious to you?
Ainz, the overpowered protagonist, is present in like 20% of the novel.
Other 80% are low-level New World mooks struggling against impossible odds and failing.
Just drop it you massive homosex why makes you read it?
>What game?
The game that the entire show is set in?
Also, kill yourself for being such a sperg
no real challenge to overcome
>game that the entire show is set in
It's not. Do you have nothing better to do with your miserable shitass life but come here and shitpost with lowest possible quality bait?
I bet you think you've won but you're here and it costs me nothing to type this in. So go ahead try and feel better about yourself because
>LOL TROLLED
You're a social refuse loser just like the rest of us here.
Are you sure you've read Overlord to form proper opinion about it?
Why did whores in vol6 had to die?
Imagine being this much of an autistic faggot
Remove the emotion inhibitor so he can actually act like a main character and get angry or sad or overjoyed
>no argument
Non-reader shitposter concession accepted. Filtered like a dog.
He said he'd never leave confines of Albedo pussy if not for that inhibitor.
Which would leave Nazarick and everyone inside vulnerable.
This. Make the plot revolve around nazarick shenanigans like the chibi spinoffs.
At least Konosuba dies with it.
They should've made more chibis and drama CD instead of anime.
And better manga too: slime manga sells the series while Overlord manga is just why the fuck did they bother
Maaan that's a bummer. His character & story are way too limited because of it
user he's surrounded by 100lvl auras of lust\wrath\greed\sorrow\fear\death and has to RP as an Emperror while being just a salaryman MMO addict.
It wouldn't be fun. It'd be a trainwreck worse than Shit:Zero reception scene where Subaru sperged out hard. It would be this, but multiplied by magnitude of 10 and constant.
It would be so shit, no publisher would ever pick up this WN and it won't be even translated by indonesian ESLs.
It might be a fiery burning thrash train, but it sure as hell would be an extremely short one.
