I guess I see your point. Japan indeed is the country that preserved the most of its Axis legacy. It still has the same kind of nationalists among its elite as back then. Its admittance of its war crimes does seem somewhat reluctant.

That being said, not everything has to be about assigning blame. Sometimes tragedy is just a tragedy. Sometimes a father in military is just a father in military. Boys' sentiment towards these has been pretty constant over the recorded history and does not depend on which side of conflict ended up doing what.
