I used the word "comparatively shit" meaning that it was shit compared to Himitsu, which it honestly probably wasn't, but I loved Himitsu so much and it cut me deep to see it replaced by something objectively worse that almost completely lacked the things I loved most about Himitsu, being the complex humans, their stories and the associated feels that sometimes went with them. Hirake still had some good episodes, but overall it was such a monumental letdown for me that it clouds my judgement over how shit it actually was or wasn't.

Almost felt like Kirara does with Elza, constantly going back to it week after week hoping that one day they'd throw me the human episode bone I wanted, but most of the time they never did. The difference was that Elza came around and noticed Kirara whereas Hirake got axed.

It wasn't just that, but Himitsu had lots of episodes devoted to Ayaka and Hina while Aoi and Miku only got one half-episode each across the whole show. That and Hirake was moire shilly than Himitsu, with every single new egg after the core ones having to have a 'new egg explores the playsets' episode which contributed to Hirake being too repetitive, in addition to it already being too repetitive with a shitton of Tuxy and Dressy episodes and the whole 'every episode has to register a Happy Star' thing.

Those two were never major characters, man. There was so little to Hina's character that we took to interpret her as a secret pervert and flasher for a while. I've always thought your fixation on side characters is weird.
