Finally got around to watching this

If Megalo Box had the amount of episodes Joe has then maybe it could go toe-to-toe it, the characters would have quite the challenge still however to Joe's characters as their character evolution are very something. The episode limit really gimps it, even with an S2 the damage is still done. --If you want bonus fun, then see Joe then watch Megalo Box...you'll be able to tear it to shreds & see who exactly is suppose to mirror who.

Great show overall, but could have been much better. The concept of going into the ring without gear was cool originally, but made less sense as the show went on and the early heavy injuries from industrial level punching gear weren't felt as much anymore. Hell, when he got to the last fight, his opponent just took the gear off to make it fair. I just wish this show took the time to develop cool strategies for the mc to use to deal with the gear his opponents used without getting hit too hard (keeping gearless status in mind). Also fuck off with that the toddler rap shit right at the end. Great show that missed out one being better than it was.

They bait you with the interesting setting and amazing first few episodes and then everything goes to shit. They don't even use the fucking gear that was the entire point.

I love this anime only because it introduced me to Ashita no Joe, holy shit that manga is great, even 50 years after it's release.

This anime started great, looked cool and had banger tracks, but that was it. It lacked content, characters and development. It had nothing to add over the manga's characters while also not developing them in any way that the manga did. (not like it needed THAT much, AnJ's early storytelling is really old and frail, what makes it great is the way it's issues are addressed while having pretty cool fights againt midly interesting opponents). Megalobox only had like... 1 interesting dude? The one who hated the coach.
