Is it bad that out of the four main characters of the big old big shonen anime (Ichigo,Naruto,Goku and Luffy) i actually like Ichigo the most? It's not even that deep i just like his character design, weapon choice and personality more. I know for a fact that Naruto atleast is a better and deeper character with more development but i honestly dgaf

The setting of Bleach has so much character it makes up for Ichigo being fairly bland.

That said my favourite is probably Luffy, but Ichigo's probably second. I can't get over how downhill Naruto's character went, though I do like the arc if you ignore all the second coming shit. Goku I've never really liked.

>personality
He loses it after soul society though

you have to go back

>better looking than Luffy
>more chad than Goku
>not autistic like Naruto
I mean he's the best.

He becomes a stoic sap though he is forgiven because i kinda persoanlly feel for him

even goku doesn't job as much as ichigo

He was Orange Yusuke (in a good way) with a sword, I don't blame you

Imagine being so massively superior at drawing than the other two and still being the weakest of the big three.

Yes he does

I dont blame you. Bleach had such a cool aesthetic. Just a shame Kubo didnt have a long term strategy lined up earlier.

Bleach has the best character designs out of the 3

Nah Ichigo is good. Naruto’s “development” just got repetitive cause it always amounted to forgiving villains he has no actual reason too. The development Ichigo got in Fullbring made him much more likable.

It's called the natural law of trade-offs user

Ichigo is average but who cares about naruto lmao. the personality is a plot-device to give speeches to villains.
at least goku is fun sometimes. so, in my view, ichigo is fine but goku wins.

Based

Bleach also has the best girls.

I liked him as a rebellious punk with a soft side bickering with Rukia and learning on the job

>short hair Rangiku
hnnng

>him and deku are the same age
literally fucking how

Ichigo is only really bad from a fightfag perspective because he is the most one dimensional of them all.
Ichigo was an Unga Bunga in a verse that had shit like billions of razor sharp flower petals that become a dome of swords, complete sensory cutoff, "I AM THE SUN", Absolute Zero on command, and A Storytime that kills you.
Doesn't make for good fights is all.
Even Goku knows more than just Kamehameha variants

It was so bad that him going maximum Unga Bunga as a Hollow was actually refreshing.

Going by their starts
>Teenager going through some shit
>Impetuous, annoying child
>Happy go lucky chad
>Happy go lucky retard
And by how they end up
>Stoic and still just wants to have a normal life
>Socially awkward dad figure
>??? (I don't know)
>Still a happy-go-lucky retard

I'd have to say Ichigo is doing just fine.

All he has is getsuga tenshou. The blandest of the big 3.

Yusuke only had his finger gun, but he was still a good protagonist.

Now now
He has Getsuga Jujishou too. Don't be unkind.

The problem I had is that after ss ichigo just got a bunch of random power ups that were altogether abandoned at the end of the arc. At least with shikai and bankai the progression felt natural. And most of hueco mundo is just him being BTFOd by antagonist after antagonist, just really drawn out. Most of the big fights in that and the aizen arc ended up being big let downs. The idea of the hollow masks were really cool but in hueco mundo it just became a stat buff for ichigo and lost all it's cool factor because of how ineffective it was.
Also what was up with the subplot of orihime being sympathetic with aizen and the arancar? It didn't work and it to was abandoned after the aizen battle. The big battles weren't the only thing that was a disappointment. Vasto Lourdes just seemed like such a cool concept. That they were incredibly rare and were stronger than captains 1:1 without being arancar. Then the whole lore got fucked over when we meet the vasto lorde and he dies to sui fang who isn't even a strong captain.
The visored should have been the ones to raid hueco mundo to bail ichigo out and kenpachi and byakuya should have fought barragan or something.

Which he only got in the final arc.

that could be for the best. a mc is supposed to overcome whatever gimmick the villain has, he isn't supposed to be too gimmicky by themselves, or all the fights would boil down to the ability. at least in bleach where the ability can be as overly specific as "trap everyone in an illusion" etc.

Variety has and always will be the spice of life.
Keep your readers guessing. Like can any of you tell me right now what move Luffy is going to beat Kaido with? No you can't because he almost always has a different finishing move for a villain. The only time he did a complete retread was Bazooka for Buggy and Wapol
But if Kubo announced a new Bleach arc I can 100% tell you Ichigo will win with a sword swing

Random stat boost after random stat boost. Yeah, this was absolutely a problem. But the bigger issue I felt was that he was rarely ever bitchslapped by the story. No matter what difficulty he encountered, he always had someone ready to tell him that there's a random stat boost waiting for him if he really, really wants it. Not once was he ever truly denied, not once was he told "no, you just can't" and have it be true. One could maybe make a case for the Fullbring arc, but the only thing at stake there was his pride. There was no urgency or any apparent need for him to regain his powers.

Ichigo's Hollow powers were integrated into his Bankai in the last arc after he came to embrace it as his Lord and personal savior. I am disappointed that it didn't also retain a trace of Ywach's Quincy powers, since part of his acceptance of his powers was also accepting the fragment of Ywach as part of Zangetsu too.

Orihime is empathy and kindness given form to contrast the coldness of Aizen and the Arrancar, it wasn't meant to be a subplot. Unless you're remembering that scene where Grimmjow implies something was done to her, which actually was a discarded plot point.

Vasto Lourdes could have been more impressive visually and ability wise, but to be fair, the power they showed during the battle over Fake Karakura Town was on the level. It took Soi Fon and Hachi having to make major sacrifices to take Barragan down, Starrk only went down because his opponent had extremely bullshit powers and Starrk was borderline suicidal after losing Lille and seeing Barragan die. Harribel was never actually defeated by any of the Shinigami, at the time Aizen backstabbed her she was fending off Hiyori, Hitsugaya and Lisa, three Captain class fighters, with minimal effort.

And Kenpachi and Byakuya would have gotten slaughtered by Barragan

>No matter what difficulty he encountered, he always had someone ready to tell him that there's a random stat boost waiting for him if he really, really wants it. Not once was he ever truly denied, not once was he told "no, you just can't" and have it be true.
Isn't this the case for most shonen MCs? They rarely find a workaround for an insurmountable obstacle, they just power through.

Yeah, it's pretty common in shounen fight. There's much the genre could learn from sports manga. Well, from sports manga that aren't themselves shounen fight at heart.
