You know, I never see ‘dubfags’ complain about people who watch subs only. Why are you autists so obsessive about what other people do or don’t do?

Remember, the more literal the translation the better, you don't want the conversation to flow naturally - in fact, glorious 日本語 should be emulated as closely as possible, and some words must not be touched, like the sacred お兄様
but you bet your fucking ass making characters shit out expletives even where they make no goddamn sense is the motherfucking jam

They don't complain because their way of watching is wrong and they know it. They're just too pussy to admit to it.

I've seen them.

How is watching dubs wrong? Morally? Legally? Practically?

Because you're enjoying anime wrong. Just like how rawfags shit on people who watch subs but to a much lesser degree.

>there’s wrong ways to engaging in a form of entertainment.
Kys.

You know I never thought about why I hate dubs so much. All I know is that I get an intense feeling of wrongness whenever I see them.

When did you start watching anime? My view is that, very generally speaking, the longer you’ve watched anime, the more comfortable you are with dubs. Here’s why: if you’re older, like I am, (1) you grew up watching dubs (2) you’re more carefree when it comes to entertainment.

I honestly don't remember that dubs exist until threads like these remind me.

Stop putting American political shit in subs then

>the longer you’ve watched anime, the more comfortable you are with dubs
I think there was a period of time from, say, 2005 to around 2015 where it was more common to be uncomfortable with dubs because almost everything you watched was subbed only. Prior to that there was only easy access to dubs and after that simuldubbing became a lot more common.

I can tell you that I started watching anime in the late 90s and there was only dubs readily available. Since then, I’ve pretty much opt for dubs, not to say that all dubs are good. Some are very bad and in those cases I’ll gladly watch subs, or if there is no dub.

I started in 2007 so it was pretty much subs only for me from the start. I don't watch dubs at all though; I think there is that difference in that people who prefer dubs will watch subs on occasion, but the reverse is a lot rarer.

Until dubs start inserting libshit in them

reddit.

Yes, if you listen to an album at 16kbps you are enjoying it wrong. Just like watching dubbed anime.

Never bothered me. I don’t really understand all the hubbub. Again, maybe because I’m old.

4channel? Facebook? Twitter?

>enjoying
>wrong
Come off it.

So far I think there have only been two instances of "libshit" being inserted into dubs. There have been plenty of instances of that kind of thing being thrown into video game translations (not just VNs) though.

Dub is obviously superior.
Do you expect me to read instead of focusing on what's happening?

Same, especially if you aren't an Anglo.
Few dubs we got back then had some high quality tho, higher than modern English ones.

Mugen is the German VA, who usually voices Johnny Depp.
Hellsing Dub gives me ptsd for my edgy and cringy middle school days tho.

Dunno if bait, but if you're used to subs from a young age on it becomes kinda natural and instantaneous, without missing out on the action.
At least for me.

Yes, when there are objectively better ways to enjoy something and you actively choose to enjoy it the inferior way, you are wrong. Why is this so hard for you to understand? FLAC sounds better than 128kbps. 1080p looks better than 360p. Subs are better than dubs.

That implies a sub is that much higher quality than dub.
When it's really just viewers who don't recognize good/bad foreign voice acting so they assume it's all great, and from their the voices imprint as the first impression on how a character should sound.

I agree that's part of the reason why I like subs, but I also like the fact that the original Japanese is present.

Not that other dude, but your analogy is flawed, user, or at least, you haven’t said why the analogy holds true. You haven’t said why subs are better than dubs, whereas it’s clear why 1080 is better than, say, 240. At this point you’re just begging the question.

Toonami and 4kids dubbed shows is what got me into anime. The 90’s/ early 2000 shows were pretty good for its time. Looking back there is a nostalgic charm for some of the older dub shows like yugioh, pokemon, Dbz

imagine watching dubs

The 90’s and early 2000’a shows had a lot of effort in terms of dub voice acting. Nowadays there are only a few dub shows that are bareable to watch.

>there’s wrong ways to engaging in a form of entertainment.
yes
