why do people keep making this thread its getting a little annoying
we get the answer immediately every time too
Bam is night in english
and in japanese Yoru means light
Bam=yoru
l hate bam more than rachel
wait I fucked it up by saying light
yoru is night in japanese and bam is korean for night
So why not just translate it to night?
Nice original thread ya got here OP
please die soon
>Person's name is Midori
>Subs don't translate it as Green
Explain this.
Protip: It's a problem with double translation.
Glass Reflection did a video on this.
It's basically because in the OG Korean webtoon Bam means March or some shit and in Japanese it isn't so they localised it to Your for the Japanese version.
Nevermind, another user beat me to it
They're all saying Night as in the thing after sunset.
Reading Korean -> English text (Night)
Hearing Korean ->Japanese speech (Yoru)
>they call it Zig Forums - Anime & Manga
>mods allow any random shit
explain
Why not translate it into Night? Don't be double standard and using unrelated korean language as localization
The rules allow it Satan. Technically X-Men anime discussion was also allowed because it was by Madhouse.
>because it was by Madhouse.
And it was written by Japs, produced by Japs, and wasn't a direct adaptation of any specific entry in the franchise.
Because they don't want Korean in anime, it's that simple
It's like how Hwarun is being said as Karen
They also allow this shit to get spammed/shilled every day. I was hoping that at least this thread would get deleted but no! K-pop drones have to keep it alive, answering OP's stupid question multiple times.
When does Tony show up?
Because that isn't how names work, dumb ass.
>Nakamura = 'the middle village" in japanese
>"duhhh why do the subtitles not call him middle village?!?!"
This is how you sound.
It's actually really stupid they translated it as Yoru in japanese for this reason: And also you can say night as "Ban" in japanese too, which is basically exactly the same is Bam. Not really sure why they made that decision. Probably because of how the phrase "25th night" sounds in japanese which I am not sure of
>Making arbitrary distinctions to limit discussion about things clearly in the spirit and style of the board
This is why we cant have nice things
love my fav OP character, Wave
then don't translate it to japanese
Good point. We may as well discuss video games and cartoons like Avatar the last Airbender here too.
Why not keep it into "Yoru" then?
don't bring unrelated korean language an justified it as localization.
Video games are a completely different medium so that is not in the spirit of the board at all. Nice try though.
But ATLA? Unironically yes.. why not? Theres plenty of topics that are discussed across boards.
>board says anime
>thread is about korean cartoons
explain
>But ATLA? Unironically yes.. why not?
Because it's a western cartoon.
It came from a Manwha but the voice acting and production is Japanese.
The Japs changing Bam to Yoru makes sense if:
1) Bam's name is supposed to be a concept and not a particular sound
2) Japs fucked by translating a name
The subs then should either be:
1) Night if Bam's name is supposed to be the concept of night
2) Yoru to be consistent with the Japanese audio the original
3) Bam to be faithful the original and confuse anime-onlies
I know that anime makes you dumb but reading gook shit makes you even dumber as fuck.
ATLA is a weird case. It's just that by that logic you would also have to ban manhwa discussion, and ban anything produced in korea or china. All I'm saying is that if consider ATLA as "anime" is what it takes to stop stupidly banning certain things from being discussed then I'm all for it.
your post makes that clear
>ATLA is a weird case.
No it isn't. It's just another cartoon.
