Dellinger was strangely super-competent for an underling.
Usually, an underling gets introduced, perhaps does one cool thing, fights one person, the end. It's been like that ever since Baratie really.
The Grand Fleet filled in a lot for the SHs since some were missing in the later half of Dressrosa, and most of them only fought and defeated one Donquixote Family member.
And yet Dellinger managed to

He was on a winning streak unlike any other seen for a OP underling. All of that, only to get cut-off by a sudden Hakuba appearance. It was a legitimate Jobber situation.
Still, it all makes me think that there had to be something more with Dellinger. He's been a pirate damn-near since birth and only character with a design based of one of Oda's unique animals. Hell, if he was Doflamingo's biological son, it would've made perfect sense too.
That's so much effort to put into such a minor character.

Well despite not being said I think that the Doffy family was supposed to showcase a crew of has-beens, Dellinger was actually in his prime still, so it does make sense that he was on top of his shit.
