Kaguya sama

Can someone please explain the appeal of this show to me? Everyone acts like it's the greatest anime of all time. Is my IQ too low to understand it?

(Saw the other thread about it but want serious answers btw)

An hero

Sorry user, this post isn't bait. I want a genuine explanation because I feel like the show goes over my head.

I liked the first few arcs of the manga because I liked watching a bunch of dorks hoisting themselves by their own petards.
By the later arcs I was invested enough in the characters that I enjoyed the more serious plotlines.
The anime is a good adaptation that isn't a slideshow, and I've forgotten some of the earlier gags from the manga, so it's like rereading but with the bonus of it being animated.

It has some genuinely funny moments

Does it get funnier after the first few episodes?

It's fun and legitimately humorous at times. It makes me smile and occasionally laugh out loud. If you don't enjoy it then don't watch it. I've read all the released volumes and even my normie friends enjoy it.

Maybe just don't take it so seriously? If the characters don't click for you it might not be something you enjoy.

I went in blind thinking it was a romance, was immediately turned off by the first 3 episodes, and dropped it. Months later, I came back and tried again but from the perspective of a comedy and I loved it. It's not everyone's cup of tea though, so if you don't like it there's no need to force yourself.

It got some good laughs out of me on the first episode alone. Nothing I would go out and shill for, but definitely worth a watch.

I thought there was some funny moments and I like the romance bits. I also happen to think Kaguya is cute, but that doesn't really have a large impact on me liking the show.

That must be it, then. I'm a sucker for romance so the first couple eps really turned me off from it. Guess I'll try looking at it from a strictly comedy point of view.

Hope you like it! Have a good night user, I'm going to bed

Thanks, user. Good night!

It's a light funny comedy, and there really isn't anything else like that airing right now. It won't change my life but I have been looking forward to the new eps each week.

It's funny. Plot doesn't matter that much in a comedy so long as it has good keks, and it does have some pretty good keks.

yes the first 3 episodes aren't that good. It gets exponentialy better with each episode afterwards.

It's cute and funny and has some great characters

It's a RomCom, with a focus on the Com half.
But rather than the common RomCom thing of constant misunderstandings, it's instead both of them playing mind games with each other.

Episode 4 of the first season is by far the best one. Season 2 has been pretty disappointing so far.

it's funny and I'm literally in the show (ishigami)

It started as a gag manga with an original twist in the romcom genre. It's not that it doesn't have cliches, but it play those cliches in a self aware way. As you keep reading you see that each character is more than their stereotype, minor side characters have their time to shine, the romance has actual progression, in short, it became a story. And a good one that people are enjoying to follow.

Plus the anime have outstanding voice actors, ballin' music and very good execution of the visual themes.

But if you dig it or not it's all up to your tastes. Did you like my explanation, OP?

What if I don't want you to read it?

It's well written. The characters are quirky but they feel like actual human beings with friends, dreams and stuff, instead of their lives revolving around romance like many other manga and anime.

Oldfag here.
It reminds me of being a stupid teenage falling in love for the first time and in that regard I find it very relateable.

>light
I really hope it gets a 3rd and 4th season for animeonlys to experience this soap opera shit

You need to have had playful relationships with girls in school to appreciate the accuracy of some scenarios

>barely make it through the first season
>whatever
>pick up second season
>dropped after two more episodes of this shit
who else

It’s commentary on Japanese class politics. Congrats, you got the point I guess?
