Samurai 8

>thought this was on hiatus due to corona
>check google
>was actually axed before corona even shut down WSJ

How bad was the ending? Did it just straight up end in the middle of an arc or what?

MC got INFinite Charisma which means it was too much for any human being to handle including the author Masashi Kishimoto himself.

Hachimaru then decided to end this manga with his own SWORD

The sage of the six paths came and told him he was the chosen one and gave a bullshit powerup and then he became the universe.

I think Corona kind of aided Kishimoto here. Instead of being ridiculed over the flop, Corona just kind of helped this disappear, and it's not like anyone's gonna wonder where S8 went after WSJ publication resumes

Ending was as bad as the manga itself

Now data entity Hachimaru can see all, but do shit, meaning he can watch Ann bang other guys. Got to see some new characters in a final montage that were probably the rest of the 8 Samurai. Looked more interesting than all of the characters we've gotten so far, but that's a moot pointnow. "And their adventures to save the universe continued (tm). Zee Endo."

I'd almost feel bad for Kishi if he wasn't a millionaire. I think the flop of this series is largely in part to Naruto never actually ending. Like anyone that might have actually cared about what Kishi is doing would just be more interested in seeing the Naruto franchise continue but I feel like those Naruto fans might feel betrayed by Kishi. I think Kishi tried to pull a Togashi and just failed miserably, partly because Naruto is just an unendable cashcow now

>wasting a qt3.14 girl with perfect design on one of the worst manga I've read in years.
This should be a crime punishable by death.

It's just as bad as Naruto. Both are garbage and generic.

chapter 1 and I immediately dropped it. it's just THAT bad.

I do always wonder how much a popular mangaka makes. Isn't Rumiko Takahashi the wealthiest woman in Japan or some shit?

she is quite pretty

Was the manga good enough to get an anime or not even then?

ending was really bad, basically just shoved down kishimoto's original finale plans into it and ended on a weird sudden tragedy.

an axed manga is not good enough

It was objectively bad, made me wonder how the hell Kishimoto wrote Naruto in the first place. It was like an amateur one shot. A million different interesting ideas with terrible execution.

Kishimoto didn't write this i think, it was a shared project remember?

He was the writer but someone else was the artist.

Wtf is this shit. I'm glad this series wasn't dragged out any longer if the author was aiming for this shitty conclusion.

It should be noted that a lot of the popular aspects of Naruto (like Sasuke, Gaara, the Fourth being Naruto's dad) were not initially thought up by Kishimoto. His editor basically co-wrote the series until a certain point.
Samurai 8 was basically Kishi unfiltered. Endless exposition dumps, boring characters, only exacerbated by Okubo's weak artwork.

the editor didn't make those characters, he just rejected kishimoto's ideas or told him to make an archetype then kishimoto did.

still can't defeat the axe even with infinite power

It was mind-boggling. MC died and ascended into Godhood. He watches over his friends as they embark on the epic quest that he was supposed to carry out.

>did it just straight up end in the middle of an arc
Pretty much, the MC died and someone else inherited his dream. It's like if Naruto was killed by Orochimaru in the Chunnin Exams and Sakura said "I will become Hokage and kick Orochimaru's ass for you, believe it!"

Dude, the longest part of the manga was the PROLOGUE, imagine the disaster. This shit will get an OVA at best (and even that is unlikely)

>I think the flop of this series is largely in part to Naruto never actually ending.
Pretty sure the biggest factor of this series flopping was that it was shit.

I would have thought Kishi would be given more leeway. Like aren't Rumiko Takahashi's manga literally given a green light for an anime adaptation as soon as it starts serialization? I'm not saying Kishi = Rumiko but he's still a pretty big name. Does this speak to how poorly received or how little people cared about S8?

>Does this speak to how poorly received or how little people cared about S8?
Pretty much. He screwed the pooch out of the gate that bad.

How to fix S8.
Shorten the exposition from 100% to 10%, let the story uravel the shit itself.
Make the social structure and samurai-princess bond less videogame-y.
Leave Hachi pretty weak until the 1/3 or 2/3 of story and make him progress via hardware tech so the videogame-y part is saved here.
Kill off Hach's dad in the first chapter immiedeately or leave him alive for the whole story, please.
First villain better to return later with revenge motif, spare him from the fate of Naruto's Mizuki being trashed by MC for the level up.
Samurai clans/schools etc to be highlighted later. Less videogame, more historic concepts as features. Suicide and seppuku as the final end of every samurai was a great idea.
Add more stakes and humanity for cyborg people. If they are soe easy at regeneration, make something to considerthem alive more that simple spinal cord. Would be okay even Pinocchio-like dilemma.
Prolong establishing the bond with princess, or that would be too fast.
Exclude planet devastating techniques by a single persio completely from the story.
Let the Kishi draw everything, assistants for backgrounds and effects only.

I feel bad about Kishi's editor. Everything what made Naruto popular and fun to read was actually his invention.

Has anyone read original Naruto one-shot? It's trash just like Samurai 8. Editor-san saved the whole series and made Kishi a milllionare.

His editor was also responsible for bad decisions like wrapping up Kakuzu and Hiram fight, retard.

>Hiram
Hidan*

not that bad imo

This. I enjoyed it while it lasted.
